Scaag however, or Caase, whatever you wanted to call him, probably Scaag since nobody else knew his real name, didn't know or remember anything of this. It all had been deleted since the attack that had put him in the simple A.I. Sample. It was only his personality and some key fragments of his previous life that existed. But that wouldn't bother Scaag now, he didn't know that he was missing something. He only remembered the things that happened since he became Scaag and necause of the missile incident, he didn't even remember all of that.
Now he was beginning to wake up and his optics slowly began to come alive. The first thing he saw was the roof of their quarters staring at him. It hit him that he hadn't painted the roof yet, that was something that they had to do.
We have to paint the roof too...
He said before sitting up and observing his mother. It was something weird about this, had she been shorter? No, he had been taller. That was it. And she was smiling at him, but she had small tears in her optics. And on the side of her helm, like if she had tried to dry them away. It was visible through the slight glow that reflected from the fluid when the light hit it. He scooted to the edge of the table and reached out a servo to wipe it away. Or at least poke it. Maybe paint something on her with it. If it was enough.
Are you sad, Mommy? Why?
He asked with a worried tone and a slightly puzzled expression on his faceplate. He had so many questions that he wanted to ask her but it didn't feel like if this was the right moment for that. Now he waited for her response.

Chiro watched as Scaag -that was his name now after all- came back online. She smiled as she felt his small servo touch her helm where the remnants of tears resided. She gently took his servo down in hers and shook her helm slightly, to shake off the memories that clung to her processor.
"I was sad, yes. But I realized that something I had lost a long time ago was right in front of me all this time that I've been here at the base. I don't know how, perhaps only Primus knows, but I'm not going to question it right now. Now... Now is a time to be happy."
Her own words echoed slightly in her processor as worry crept up in her spark. Would history repeat? Time had a way of tormenting the old medic be it by her own hands or due to the ongoing war. However, she took her own advice and forced the thought away. Chiro then looked Scaag over for anything that seemed to be malfunctioning.
"So, how do you feel, Scaag? Mommy followed her promise to help you paint better. With your upgraded body, you should be able to reach heights better and safer. And perhaps instead of doing mostly solid colors, you can come up with some interesting designs to paint the walls? You should have the articulation to do so if you wanted to now."
Chiro smiled at the young bot, putting her own thoughts and worries aside - as what she usually did with her patients.

What was it? Was it a canister? A ball? Ooh ohh, it was a toy!
Scaag said happily as a response on her statement. He couldn't possibly know that she meant him, and even if he did, he wouldn't know why. And she was happy now, good. Beeing happy was good, he knew that. When he was happy he painted something, and when he was sad... He also painted something. But something different.
I'm feeling weird. Bigger, or you are smaller. And can I? How? Tell me!
He said with a very excited voice. He hadn't realized that it was because he was taller now. He had never grown before so it was all new to him. .

Chiro couldn't help but laugh at the rapid fire questions.
"One at a time, Scaag. I can't answer your questions as fast as you can say them!"
She half scolded him, but she was smiling all the while. He was a young bot after all, and they always had a lot of questions in her experience.
"Yes, you are bigger. As for painting more detailed paintings, the articulation in your arm and servo joints will allow greater control of the brush while painting. For example…"
Chiro went to one of the shelves and grabbed a large sheet of paper, a small paint can, and a detail brush. She opened the can of light blue paint and mixed the paint a bit with the brush. She wiped the excess paint off to prevent unwanted dripping of the paint. She looked to Scaag as she held the fine brush up for him to examine for a moment.
"With this small brush and the fine control of my servo I can make details like this..."
She then painted a flower she had seen in a garden in London on the paper sheet, all in the same color of course, but she used the fine control to provide shading with small lines that were close together and other small details. She couldn't remember the last time she painted something other than solid blocks of paint on walls or armor. While she wasn't an artist herself, she could appreciate the amount of control and skill it took to perfect a complicated and detailed piece. She then offered the fine brush to Scaag.
"You want to give it a try?"

But why not? If I can ask fast, you should answer fast, right?
He replied back to his mother. But he was a little confused at to what she said then. He was bigger now which was both good and bad because now he couldn't reach into small spaces anymore. But on the upside he could reach new places that he couldn't before. That was nice, at least he assumed it was nice.
What does articulation mean, Mommy?
He asked curiously before he was shown the new brush. It looked kinda like the one he was already using but at the same time not. He now examined the brush and all its small quirks. It was truly fascinating what it could do. And when she asked if he wanted to try, he immediately grabbed the brush from her servo and began painting. At first it was nothing. Then it became a bigger blob, with something behind it. Lines were drawn in it and around it so that it seemed as if it came right for him. There was no shading as the object itself gave out light so shadows would be unrealistic. He continues tweaking it a little, erasing and using his own paint until a very realistic plasma bolt that came straight for him was on the paper.
Mommy look! It's a really good brush!

"To put it simply, articulation is another word for joints. And yes, it is a good brush. You may have it to paint with."
Chiro smiled at Scaag. However, what he painted troubled her. The only way he could possibly paint something like that so realistically was if he had somehow experienced such a trauma. But that was impossible. If Scaag had suffered such an attack prior to her upgrades, he would not have survived it. Perhaps he witnessed it happen to another? But then the perspective would be from a different angle. Or maybe he saw some surveillance video that had such a view. That was more likely. Either way, he didn't seem disturbed by it so she put the thought aside. However, if he painted something like that again, she would investigate more.
"As for answering quickly, I could answer your questions as fast as you ask them, but then I would be answering your questions at the same time you are asking questions. And sometimes the questions you ask have long answers that lead to more questions on that topic. However, the question you asked right after might be about something completely different because you didn't slow down to listen to the answer to the previous question. And that is when information gets mixed up and miscommunication happens, which usually leads to bad things happening. And we don't want bad things to happen."
Chiro had plenty of experience with miscommunication failures. It happened all the time with people who were in a rush and/or were not paying attention to what they needed to pay attention to. The results were never pretty when miscommunication happened. So, she was determined to make sure Scaag understood what she explained.
"Now, you seem to be full of questions. I'll answer some of them before I go back to work and then I'll answer more of them after work. So, what else do you want to ask?"

Oh. I understand. And Thanks mommy!
He said happily as he was given the new paintbrush. He would probably paint someone with it in the future, maybe near future but that wasn't his problem now. In fact, it wasn't his problem at all, he didn't get painted. And when Chiro began to talk about questions and answers, it started to get confusing. Something about asking and not understanding mixed with questions? Either way he had no clue what she was talking about. And something else he wanted to ask?
What are you going to do now?

Ignorant of the fact that he didn't understand what she had explained about answering as fast as asking questions, she answered his next question.
"Well, I should be getting back to the medbay."
Chiro looked at her datapad and pulled up the logs. She sighed and shook her head. She had spent more time working on Scaag's upgrades than she anticipated. A fault she was well aware of and failed to fix on multiple accounts.
"Seems we have a grim situation there now..."
Chiro looked back to Scaag and smiled. While she took a lot of time, it was time well spent in her personal opinion. Her professional opinion, however, burned in the back of her processor. The grim feeling of dire consequences due to her absence only made her feel worse.
"If you want, you can keep painting our living space, or, you can come to the medbay with me while I work to repair the others. But you can't stay in this room. I need to keep it locked to keep others, including you, from accidentally hurting themselves with the dangerous materials and equipment. Understand?"

And now she said that she had to go again. She often did that. Scaag hadn't grasped what was so important that she always had to go away and work. Didn't they have any other medics? And she was clearly bothered by something, judging from the expression on her face. Being bothered wasn't a good thing, if it bothered her she should make not bother her.
Why are you bothered? And I want to be with mommy. But why is it dangerous?

Chiro exvented slightly.
"Seems we're missing a few medics and I need to keep better track of the medbay. It is my responsibility as the Autobot's Head of Medicine."
She said simply before putting her datapad away.
"As for why this place is dangerous, there are many chemicals and tools in here that can easily kill you if you don't know what you're doing with them. And I don't what you to get hurt or killed, Scaag. So, since you want to be with me, let's go to the medbay together."
Chiro smiled at her son.

Oh. You should get more medics.
Scaag stated as he watched his mother with both optics. He listened to what she said but also wondered why she had dangerous stuff that could kill him. It sounded a bit weird but he'd ask that question later. But the fact that it could hurt or kill him only made him both curious and scared.
Go to medbay now, mommy. I want to see it too!
He exclaimed happily and reached out his arms towards her, since he wanted to get carried.

Chiro chuckled a little as she picked him up and carried him in her arms.
"Well, unfortunately with the tides of war, people leave or go missing. But perhaps more medics will show up as well..."
Chiro then left the lab with Scaag in her arms. She sent a signal to the security panel to lock the door of the lab behind her as she went out to the main living area and then on out to the main part of the base.
((To the medbay! You want to post first, or should I?))

Scaag held onto Chiro tightly to not fall down. He was still scared of heights and it hadn't helped being taller.
((I guess you couldndonitnas you are carrying Scaag. XD))

Chiro unlocked and entered the main room of her personal living space with Stormcutter behind her. She turned to him and smiled warmly once he was inside. She felt a strange mix of emotions well up in her Spark. Excitement to bring her older son home after so long quickly followed by the small voice of doubt in her processor. The feelings of hope and doubt wrestled within her Spark for a moment but she clung to the former.
"Welcome to mine and Scaag's personal quarters. I'm sorry that there isn't space for you to comfortably live here with us in the long term, but you are welcome to stay here for the time being. The door on the right is our bedroom and to the left is my lab."
Chiro then walked over to the lab door and unlocked it. Once inside, she pulled all the supplies she had gotten for Stormcutter out of her subspace and placed them on the center table. She then indicated a sizable empty corner for him to set up a small forge.
"Feel free to set up there. I can clear more space for you if needed."

Stormcutter followed Chiro into the personal quarters and looked around, noting how everything was set up in the living room and kitchen area. He looked to her as she spoke and followed her into her personal lab. Upon inspecting the space she indicated for him to set up his temporary forge, he put away his face mask and smiled.
"It is quite alright, mother, and I thank thee for thy hospitality. Thou need not worry about the space as mine portable equipment will fit."
He then went over to the designated corner and began to pull out the equipment and supplies from his subspace. It wasn't long before everything was set up for use.

Chiro smiled and watched Stormcutter set up his temporary forge.
"Alright, I'll leave you to repair your armor. Feel free to use anything you find in here and if you can't find something you need, let me know. I'm going to go track down Scaag. Primus knows what he's gotten himself into by now..."
Chiro exvented and shook her helm, exasperated by the thought of Scaag getting into more trouble. But at the same time, she was worried for her youngest child. The last she saw of him Dashside had escaped the desert battle with him crying in her arms.
"I'll be back to check on you soon, Storm. If you finish before I come back, you have my permission to go to the Medbay and see if you can help anyone there. If anyone gives you trouble, refer them to me."
Chiro then waved slightly as she left to find the paint-happy sparkling.

[[ I am being extremely lazy here and just posting this entire conversation on one post since I don't feel like switching accounts multiple times right now. But, this is the start of my return to TFG. Hopefully I can stick around awhile...]] “AH!” Chiro woke up with a start and sat up quickly. She quickly looked around before processing that she was in her room. Unlike the in the nightmare, she was safe. But that didn’t answer the question of how she got to her room. She checked her memory banks only to discover a rather large gap as compared to the current date. Groaning, she put a servo up to her helm. She muttered as she heard heavy footsteps outside her door. “Not again…”Stormcutter jolted awake from dozing in the living room at the sudden yell from Chiro’s room, but joy overtook the momentary surprise as he got up and went to check on her. After seeing the light from her optics, he retracted his mask and smiled. “Thou art finally awake!” “What happened?” Chiro groaned as she moved to sit on the edge of her bed. Her systems were not quite functioning yet and the self-diagnosis was taking longer than usual. And, as humans would put it, the room was spinning. Stormcutter frowned as he knelt beside Chiro to more easily fit into the smaller room. He was glad to see her awake, but worry held fast in his mind. “We… do not know. Shortly after thou went to find little Scaag, thou came back without him and thy countenance was… odd. But instead of answering mine queries, thou collapsed into stasis.” Stormcutter then picked up the datapad off her desk, loaded the diagnostic information from months ago and then handed the datapad to her. “I performed a scan of thy systems, but found nothing unusual as compared to your data on file with the medbay here. As such, I have been watching over thee since for any signs of recovery or further degradation.”Stormcutter continued as Chiro looked over the information. He knew the answer to the question he was about to ask, but wanted to affirm it to make a point. “Chiro, hast thou performed further experimentation on thyself since we left?” Chiro chuckled darkly, knowing what he was getting at. She hadn't performed any updates or experiments to herself in a few years, but that wasn't a good thing in her case. While she could function and perform her duties just fine, there were latent problems that still needed to be corrected. “Nothing anyone here would know about. But you remember how my schematics looked back then, don’t you?”“Aye. Even though we are not your sparklings, one could say Panacea got that trait from thee.” Stormcutter let out a heavy sigh before continuing. Having time to think as he kept watch, he had finally come to terms with the events that had occurred between himself and his twin. His new family took precedent now, and he was determined to help to make up for the lost years. “What didst thou do to thyself? Mayhap I could be of assistance in correcting the side effects.” Chiro stood up now that her internal diagnostics finished and her systems read to be online and stable. “I will explain everything later. I do need to find Scaag and pray to Primus that he hasn’t destroyed anything while I was in stasis. And hopefully not cycle again…”Stormcutter stood up as well and led the way out to the living room area. “I will accompany thee as a precaution. And I have yet to receive a proper tour since arriving.”Chiro chuckled lightly as she went over to the door that opened to the rest of the base. “When you said you watched over me the entire time, you really meant it… Alright, first we’ll go to the medbay. It’s one of Scaag’s favorite places to paint. If he’s not there, I’ll give you a tour as we look and ask around. If he is there, I'll be sure to give you a tour later.” “Understood.” Stormcutter reactivated his mask as he followed her out of the living quarters.
