Today fellow roleplayers, is the day that Transformers Universe is closing down forever. I have posted this thread here today to honour the passing of a great website and the lost potential of a game.
For those new here from other places, Transformers Universe was an online game that started out as an MMORPG but was turned into a MOBA when it went into closed beta. During this time of waiting for the game's release. A few people started what would later become the foundation for the roleplay community.
Our community started out small, only a handful of people and two leaders, Indigo Prime and our first Megatron (We had a few Megsies xD). I was one of the last of the founders to join the group prior before Christmas of 2012 as a new Roleplayer and former fanfic writer.
I was taken under the wing of Vanguard, our resident experienced old Ironhide like character and ran into Gearchange on the way. Little did I know that this was the start of whole new friendships with a lot of people and getting to know a whole host of people.
In the end, the game never mattered, what mattered was the Roleplaying and the community built around it. We planned events, fought the Decepticon players and most importantly, built the lives of our characters.
But then, just as we were success fully building the RP community, TFU was hacked and was sent down from service, causing the rp community to decend into chaos as this outage continued for 3 months straight.
The event left the rp community battered and trying to rebuild our numbers after such a long outage, as the game development moved on after this, our numbers built again as people came when the heard the game was inviting more to beta test it.
This brought new situations and events to the table and of course, this brought problems too. Events failed, arguments happened.
More than once did we believe our community was in a state of crumbling. But we continued on.
As rping was at a whole new low and people left due to inactivity, we planned the Hammer of Revenge and the Cybertron event.
The first didn't go so well. The other was put into full action and the RP moved to Cybertron, but this also had it's problems.
Then we heard the news of the closure of the site. And in a way. Our memories with it.
But here is where I take off my hat to the founder of Transformers Galaxy, Gearchange Maximus. As when news hit of the forums, him, I and a few others, worked hard together to make a place to continue the stories we have woven.
Ironic. The forum Rps for TFU started in December and finished in December, while TFG started in December.
Now we know this place isn't perfect and we are still trying to sort stuff out. This is the long hatching process that I guess is normal for a place with such ambitions and as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.
This is the same. We thank everyone for their patience, support and understanding during this time. And hopefully we shall honour the memory of this site by continuing the loving community we fought so hard to build.
Thank you.
