"The Surgical Ward: where the critical, invasive, and life-saving operations take place. If there is no separate area for an Emergency Room in the Medbay, this Ward covers that purpose as well. Nearly everything that is needed for all known -and sanctioned- medical operations is available here. The only components that may not be here are things that are difficult or impossible to find and/or replicate, like T-Cogs. If it isn't found here, or in the Storage Room, you will not find it in the Medbay.
As with most Wards, there are two rows of berths, however one might notice that there are far fewer berths in this Ward than with other Wards. This is due to the berths being spaced far apart for the purpose of arraigning multiple large pieces of equipment, like dedicated life support machines, between the berths while still allowing medics to move around their patients - without getting in each others way. Along the walls are varying large pieces of equipment and machinery, from fabrication machines to life support systems, for quick access when time is of the essence for the patient. Between these machines are shelves that hold smaller tools and items that a medic may need, without having to walk far from the patient. Located at approximately every third berth is a "wet station" which is comprised of a sink, for tools and items that need to be washed after an operation, and an adjustable-powered hose, for the rare occasion when a constant stream of water is needed to be given to the patient.
It is highly-recommended that all non-essential personnel wait in the Medbay Lobby for the patient(s) while any operations are going on. Please be respectful of the medical staff if they ask you to leave as they may need complete silence to concentrate on their life-critical work."
-Excerpt from Doctor Chiro's "A Quick Guide to the Medbay"

Chiro smiled and chuckled at his compliment as she guided Jazz over to one of the surgical tables. "Well, I haven't been around here long myself. But you can be sure that I will get you back on your pedes soon enough for you to go back out there and get in another scuffle." She said slightly sarcastically as she quickly gathered the equipment she needed. Upon seeing a small trail of energon dripping from some of his wounds, she promply hooked him up to an IV drip of fresh energon.
She paused a moment, looking him over again to determine where to start. "New toys?" She thought of the information she had learned just earlier about Shockwave. "Mind telling me who it was?"

"I'm sure that you're perfectly capable, doctor. As long as ya ain't threatenin' to disable somethin' so I can't get up and run from the medical center I have no reason not to listen to you and do exactly as I'm told. I'm certain you'll have me in tip-top shape in no time, good-lookin'!" Oh, he was definitely trying to make her smile more since he had already cracked one out of her.
As he was led to one of the tables he slid his way to first sit on it, allowing her the moment to connect him to the drip, then moved again to lay back on the berth. He stared up at the ceiling, not recognizing anything that came to greet his hidden optics. It was strange to be like this, in this position in this place, and not have to listen to Ratchet fussing around and scolding him for not taking better care of his frame and foolishly engaging in a battle with a Decepticon like Soundwave all on his own. Though his comment back would always be along the lines of 'but I have a great medic to repair me' and that would normally settle him back with a grumble or two. Though in six years a lot had changed and those who he had once called family and friends were no longer around. He was the last and that was a little lonely to think about, espeically considering that Soundwave, of all, was still lingering around like a thorn in his side.
"A Decepticon by the designation of Soundwave. It's... not the first run-in I've had with him. More surprised seein' him hangin' on and still around more than anythin' else."
Jazz was reminded of something that he had noticed as they were leaving the lobby and he turned his helm to look at the femme getting ready to take care of him.
"Look, I may have a bit more work needed on me than I'm willin' to admit so pause out for a sec, okay? I would have sworn I heard someone in the lobby as we were leavin', so if ya wanna go and check it out feel free. I'm nice and stable, ain't offlinin' anytime soon, so I don't need to be looked at right away. The energon drip should be enough to keep me happy for a while so ya should really go see the other patients before ya start workin' on me. Really, I'm down for it. As long as ya ain't showin' me any needles I ain't gonna get up and go no where."

Chiro responded with her own quip, but she couldn't help but smile in the process. "As long as you don't give me a reason to disable somethin', you'll be fine. She had another comment cross her processor but then decided against voicing it.
She had walked over and started preping for the surgery but paused when she heard who attacked him. She turned back around, the forcepts still in servo. But he continued speaking so she listened. When he finished his little excuse to delay the surgery, she blinked her optics and listened closely for noise from the lobby. Sure enough, she heard sneezing. She chuckled. "Feast or famine, huh? Just lay there and relax and no needles will be comming your way." She winked at the mech and put the forecepts back on the table.
She headed out the door to greet the new patcient. "Soundwave..." As soon as her face was turned from the mech, she let her smile fall as she shook her helm. "Between him and Shock..." She exvented.

Jazz exvented some as he was left alone, returning to staring at the ceiling. He counted the chips in the panels, the cracks, made note of damage or anything out of place; things that he should be been doing to his own frame. Truth was that Jazz knew he wasn't in very good shape but he wasn't at a point where he was going to offline should he not be looked at right away. So he just took the time to do as he was commanded to do; relax. It was an odd thing for him, not as odd as it probably would have been to Prowl or Ironhide, but still odd. There was a war going on and he didn't have time to be laying around and lollygagging. Still, he had promised that he would lay here and behave and unless he saw a needle flying his way he wasn't going to so much as budge from the place he was left at. The medic was counting on him to honor his promise. So for now he was stuck, at least until he was given his necessary repairs and given the all green to return to battle.
The Porsche didn't know how long this was going to take with the other patients now coming in as well nor did he really care. This was the time he needed for some quiet and time to reflect on what had dealt with, both during his time of absence and now. He needed a breather for that and as well as to try and figure out just what he was going to let happen with Soundwave. Shodl he return to battle with him? Send someone else after him? Forget about it?
Go back after him.
Eventually Jazz found himself shutting off his optics and lulled off into stasis.

Chiro glanced over at Jazz as she helped Rally, though she did not know his designation, get situated. As far as she could tell, Jazz was alright and was sleeping soundly.
She hooked up an IV drip to the new arrival, to help stabilize his energon levels. She smiled at the young mech. "Just relax and I or another medic will be right back to fix you up."
She then headed out the door to check up on Gunny. If she could at least get one patient discharged, that would help ease the processor-ache that was beginning to form.

Gunstorm nearly ran into the medic, and skidding to a stop, she managed to avoid crashing into the medic.
"Someone brought in a blue wolf to the NE and he seems to be in a bad way. He's leaking Energon badly - there were splotches on the floor leading to the room he's in," Gunstorm explained, systems working overtime to cool off her hot frame.

"Oh!" A small sound escaped the medic as she almost ran into the femme she was looking for. After listening to what Gunny said, Chiro nodded, understanding. "Good, they did manage to rescue Helix. And glad to see you're no longer sneezing." She smiled warmly at the young 'Bot.
She then frowned and exvented. "Well, if he was taken to the Non-Emergency Ward, then perhaps he's not so bad off as you may think. Let me get reorganized and I'll be right there. With the sudden influx of patients, I wonder where Nurse Wildfire is..." She shook her helm.

"Perhaps I could be of some help? I used to be a... human, and I was a veterinarian," Gunstorm offered, rubbing the back of her neck - a nervous habit she had picked up as a human. "I may not know much about Cybertronian anatomy, but I want to learn."

Chiro blinked her optics, letting her processor run that information a second time. "By Primus...." She shook her helm. "Come with me." Chiro led the way down the hallway to the currently empty Recovery Ward.

Gunstorm nodded her helm, following Chiro to the Recovery Ward. She begun to wonder if it had been wise to tell her about her human past. Suddenly, she started to get a sense of nervousness in her tanks. She didn't want Chiro to think she had a glitch in her processors.

Rally settled into the wheelchair slowly and adjusted the armor fragment that served as a way to hide his face wound. He had closed his eyes for a few moments and soon found himself wheeled into the surgical wound. The medic had left for a moment and he slowly lifted himself up from the chair with a groan. He moved a free servo to his thigh and ran a digit over the three holes where the bullets had entered.

It was a while before Jazz found himself stirring from his stasis, even though it was more of an upright bolt than a small shift here and there as one normally did upon coming out of it. He was still seeing Soundwave coming after him, envisioning the plummet towards what easily could have been his demise, and hearing the recording of his own voice coming from the Decepticon. That had been a little unnerving but hadn't been able to think on it much at the time. After all, he had been falling to what could have been his death not soon after that.
The drip was depleted by this point and his energon levels were returned to normal so no point to lines that only got in the way. Without the doctor there to nip at him, Jazz removed the line himself and slid off the berth as carefully as he could bring himself to, being tender with the hole in his side. The little bullet holes and dents he could live with since it seemed his pede wasn't as damaged as he thought; mostly it seemed as cosmetic as the holes in his hood. The shoulder and side were the parts of his frame that would still need to be addressed. Jazz was certain he still had one of Ratchet's old emergency field patch kits in his quarters at his disposal. That wasn't so much an issue. Instead the problem fell with the fact that his quarters had probably been handed off to someone else. Well, he would just have to see if his code still worked then and just what of his room had been removed, if anything. Who would toss out a perfectly decent medkit? Especially one expertly put together as one of Ratchet's.
Then again, who here even knew who Ratchet was? This was a new crew and probably didn't dove too far into the previous one. From what Jazz had even inspected this new bunch didn't have everything as organized and together as his last time, but who was he to really speak up about it? It wasn't his place to command- not anymore.
Just go with the flow and hope for the best, just as he always did. Keep one's helm high and optics forward and dance when possible.
Check.
After grabbing a couple things out of one of the nearby supply storage cabinets for a 'just in case' scenerio, Jazz took the chance of escape. He peeked his helm outside of the room to scan for any sign of life anywhere, making sure to look both ways to avoid being spotted by the doctor, before leaving the room as quietly as a lone scraplet on the hunt. He didn't know how this medic would react to one of her patients up and walking out without proper fixings but he really couldn't wait around anymore. Even though it had been out of his control, Jazz had left Soundwave alone too close to humans and wasn't willing to chance that he would just leave the isolated towns be. He had to get back, and if that meant doing a quick fix-it on himself, then so be it. Deal with the circumstances later.
In a hurry Jazz made his way from the surgical ward, down the hall to the main lobby and towards the section of the new base where the living quarters were safely tucked away.

And of course the Surgical ward looked pretty too. The walls were a darker shade of yellow and the floor and roof were a soft red. Scaag had obviously been here too..

Chiro entered with Bo on the stretcher. She carted him over to an empty bed and helped him over. She then put the stretcher away to the storage area.
Chiro exvented as she returned. She had noticed that Taggon had returned with an injured Stormgear in the Repair Room. However, another medic that Chiro did not meet yet was taking care of her. From the looks of things, it seemed they were not successful. She wondered if she would have been much help if she had been there. Then she pushed the thought away. She had a job she needed to do.
"Ok, Bo, what happened after I left?" Chiro flipped her visor down to scan his systems before going and getting an IV drip of fresh energon and hooking it up to him.

"A Vehicon tried to throw a smoke grenade under me, but I heard it skittering across the ground. While I was occupied with him, I was shot at by a missile. Next thing I know, my right hock feels like it's on fire. I see a jet flying away, and I tried to take him out, but wasn't succesful. The Vehicon attacks me again, and runs down a street. I follow him, and he tried to attack me again. He got too close and well... Let's just say I borrowed a page from the Hulk's book. After that, another Vehicon shows up and hits me with his shields. I'm pretty sure the shields had some sort of poison on it. I grab the newcomer, and throw him as far as I could." Bo replied. Pausing a moment, he takes a soft vent. "I'm sorry I couldn't find Jazz... I would have if it weren't for the 'Cons."

Chiro listened as she gathered the tools needed to start the repairs. When Bo finished, she simply exvented. "Well, Jazz will turn up eventually. Maybe I'll head back and try to find him again. But not until after I'm done with you two."
Chiro turned to the other mech who had been waiting patiently, unlike the one who should have still been there. She felt bad that she had left the poor mech sitting there for so long and she would repair him before she left the ward, though Unicron's return or high water. She pulled up the current Autobot roster on her datapad and found Rally's file. "Rally, is it? I'll be with you momentarily. I do apologize for the wait."
Chiro turned back to Bo and began to gently peal off the damaged armor around the damaged joint. "Alright, we'll start with the worst injury first." She inspected the exposed internals closely, seeing what could be salvaged and what needed full replacing.

Bo watched as Chiro gently removed the armor. He winced when he saw just how badly the joint was shattered. Sighing softly, he glanced at his visor and saw that there was a crack in it.
"Great, my visor's cracked... Oh well, I'll fix it later." Subspacing the cracked visor, he looked up at the ceiling. He soon realized that the poison was wearing off, and his frame didn't ache so much thanks to the Energon drip. As he relaxed, he became slightly curious about Chiro. He didn't know her that well yet.
"So... May I ask where you're from?" He asked, directing the question to the medic.

Chiro started removing the damaged pieces and wires, taking note of the gauge and metal each was made of. She quickly became absorbed in her work. It took her a moment to register that she had been asked a question. "Oh, well... I guess if you wanna be specific, I'm from Tagon Heights, back on Cybertron."
She quickly went and got replacement parts for the pieces that couldn't be repaired from their current state. When she returned, she started to reshape the existing support frame back into place, using a low-power blowtorch to soften the metal enough to allow her to do so. Then she started welding in the new pieces for the support frame and joint. Once that was finished, she moved on to the smaller and more delicate pieces.
"This might sting a bit." She warned as she quickly placed and welded the new wires in place, making sure each was solidly connected to their proper place. Then she started replacing the armor around the joint. This took a while as the armor Bo had was very thick and durable.

When Chiro finished up with Bo's joint, she worked on fixing up the dents in his armor, banging out what could be remedied and replacing the pieces that were too damaged to be reworked. When the repairs were finished. She smiled at the horse predacon. "I think you're good to go, Bo! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to help Rally here."
With that, Chiro cleaned up the area nearby Bo and made her way over to Rally. She flipped her visor down. "Let's see..." The major wound was the bullets in the thigh but he also had damage to his back armor. Chiro nodded and smiled at the young mech. "I'll get you back on your feet no problem." Chiro then left to get the equipment and replacement armor.
Upon her return with the required items, Chiro removed the now empty IV drip from Rally before getting to work on his leg. She carefully pulled off the punctured armor and took a closer look. Three bullets perfectly imbedded into his frame. The bullets missed his energon lines, which explained the lack of leakage, however, some wires were not so lucky. She carefully used a pair of forceps to dislodge and pull out each bullet, setting them into a bowl on the nearby cart. She then took note of the damaged wires and quickly got replacements.
When she returned, she removed the damaged wires. Before she welded the new ones in place, she fixed up the holes in Rally's frame, making sure the structure was sound before moving on. "Like I told Bo a little while ago, this might sting a little." Then she carefully welded the new wires in their proper place. Once she verified that everything was in working order, Chiro repaired the holes in the armor before placing the metal back onto Rally's thigh with a clean, solid weld. Next came his back armor, which was a relatively simple process. Chiro asked him to sit up so that she could reach the damaged areas. Once he did so, she began repairing his armor. Again, like with Bo, repairing what would be repaired and replacing what couldn't.
When she finished, she gave Rally a smile. "There you go, Rally. Again, I apologize for the wait, but thank you for being so patient." She paused a moment before continuing. "I would recommend some rest before charging off into battle again. Both of you." She looked at both of the mechs in the room.
As far as she knew, the other patients that were currently there were being taken care of and she figured she had a little while before the next patient arrived. She had not had much time to clean up the medbay but for cleaning up her temporary workstations since she first arrived, so, she decided to take the opportunity to do a thorough cleaning, despite the now dry paint. However, as she had told Scaag, the paint remained. When she finished cleaning the Surgical Ward, she headed out to inspect the status of the other rooms.
