BASICS
Designation : Kick-Start
Nicknames : Kickers, Kick, KS
Gender : Femme
Faction : Decepticon
Home Planet : Cybertron
Home City State : Crystal City
Occupation : Science Officer/Medic
Personality : Sometimes described as the first 10/10 genius, Kick-Start could well be the most intelligent Cybertronian ever.
If you need some sick, sadistic weapon invented, Kick-Start is the one to come to. If you need somebody medically tortured until they talk, Kick-Start will be happy to give a hand. Her speciality is the study of the living Spark, and how to keep it alive while she works, and the deep investigations into portals and the manipulation of space and time. Of course, if you expect her to stop once she's gotten all your information, you're suffering from some serious 'trust issues'.
Sadly, being intelligent isn't the same as being sensible. Kick-Start is usually logical. And then she gets her 'ideas'. If you want something horribly unethical done, just head on over. She's probably done it already.
She has one good point - she believes very firmly in freedom of speech and of expression. People should be free to say what they want and express themselves. If they don't like something, they shouldn't be punished for saying so. Likewise, she should be free to continue her experiments. They're for the good of all Cybertronians, not just Decepticons! Those hypocritical Autobots want to stifle her creativity!
99% of the time Kick-Start is absolutely loyal to whoever's in charge. The problem arises in the fact that she's also a real schemer. She could never take over the Decepticons by force, so she generally builds up her plans with brains instead.
APPEARANCE
Optic ( Eye ) Color : Red
Primary Paint Color : Purple
Secondary Paint Color : Blue
Height : 12' Outer Shell. 6' Inside.
Features : Outer Shell:
Notes: The vast majority of Kick-Start is not actually Kick-Start...
Alternative Mode :
1: Data Stick - this is actually Kick-Start's real alt-mode.
2: Supermoto - Yamaha XT660X - this is what Kick-Start's shell can transforms into at will, and she appears to drive it.
Equipment and Abilities
Armor : There's a lot more armor than there is Kick-Start. Most of her is 'padding', meaning that if you hit her... you'll probably miss.
Primary Weapon : EMP gun.
Description: An Electronic Magnetic Pulse weapon that can knock almost any sentient or non-sentient electrical device out; Kick-Start's has a 10-foot range, so she needs to be fairly close to use it.
Secondary Weapon : Dual Pistols
Description: A pair of pistols on her hips; these have very low firepower and are mostly used for a last-resort defence measure.
Gadgets : Nibblet Remote
Description: This allows for the remote-control of any individual Nibblet from anywhere, but only works at full power when plugged into a real computer. Think Laptop vs Desktop.
EMP Shield
Description: Paired with her EMP gun, it shields her from the paralysis of all EMP - what's the point of having a weapon that risks hurting you?
Melee : Energon Scalpel
Melee Weapon Description : Basically a high-power knife that can cut through almost anything, but again, causes low damage. Kick-Start was not built to damage things.
Stilleto Heels
Description: These heels add almost a foot to her percieved height. They have been infused with SCIENCE, and can slice through just about anything, including Cybertronian armour. Kick-Start has had enough time to herself to show that there are no exceptions thus far. They aid in defending herself in melee combat.
Abilities :
1: Kick-Boxing. Kick-Start has had plenty of time to teach herself.
2: That bike? It's not actually Kick-Start. Even so, only she can make it transform and drive it. The bike was formerly her teacher Two-Ton.
Other :
Kick-Start has a pet Nibblet, which she calls Nibbles. See below for Nibblets. But if you killed it, she'd probably get a new one.
OTHER
History :
Kick-Start was originally forged and became a Mini-Con in Crystal City, becoming apprenticed to a neutral theoretician named Two-Ton. Due to the prejudice against Minicons at the time, Kick-Start began to experiment with Kibble to bulk herself up, while she and Two-Ton performed various barely ethical experiments on people who were not always fully aware of what they were volunteering for. Sadly, Two-Ton was offlined during the destruction of Crystal City, leaving Kick-Start devastated, facing live as a Mini-Con alone. In a flash of crazed inspiration, she managed to retrieve his body and began developing a number of ideas, some of which she began to give lectures on.
At her lowest point, Kick-Start was reduced to giving science lectures in the street, often surrounded by students, where she was noticed by the recently empurated Shockwave. She had gathered a number of fans by this point, most of whom were highly intelligent themselves but were considered to have the wrong alt for a job in the sciences. He was impressed by the logic of her theories and offered her employment as a lab assistant. It wasn't long before Kick-Start was utterly devoted to Shockwave and his sciences, most likely his biggest admirer, although he saw her only as a student and highly-skilled assistant.
Kick-Start's plans for Two-Ton's body were made complete thanks to operations performed on her after she became Shockwave's assistant. Kick-Start had already adapted Two-Ton's body into a transforming exo-suit, but with his brain dead and his Spark empty, she had plans to link his Transformation Cog and the necessary parts directly into her own brain. The 'suit' would transform at her will, which only she could merge with (in the form of its rider) in order to drive. She then altered the outer plating to be more aesthetically pleasing and blend better with her own parts. It's like summoning a zombie and then wearing him, so it's no surprise she only found somebody willing to perform the brain operation to complete it after joining the Decepticons.
While Shockwave was working on ways to manipulate time and space, Kick-Start was working on ways to create expendable sentient silicon life straight off the shelf, no spark necessary, which by Cybertronian standards is like commanding an army of zombies. While doing so, she created Nibblets; the insect vermin seen running around the Rust Ruins. Their main purpose would be to enter battle and kill anybody who wasn't a Decepticon until they were killed. She was present in the Sea of Rust when Shockwave's tower was taken down by Jazz and Cliffjumper, and for the most part, nobody was even sure that she got out alive.
Unfortunately for those who believed the world had scored a big win for medical ethics, Kick-Start had retreated into her personal bunker in the ruins, which she came out of several months later. She adapted the Nibblets in the area to turn them into her way to explore the Rust Ruins, and then a large percentage of the planet, documenting what was left and in places even restoring it without ever having to leave her lab. While the Rust Ruins look as destroyed as ever from the outside, go down a couple of levels and several million years has been plenty of time to restore most of the place to its former glory, and turn the rest of the place into a huge laboratory.
In the past several million years, Kick-Start has been setting up her secret labs all over Cybertron, usually in areas of archaeological interest but not always. Every so often one is found by explorers and treasure hunters, but due to the sheer number of them, actually shutting down all of them is nothing short of impossible. It's even been rumoured that she converted an entire moon into one great big weaponised laboratory, just in case. She uses Vehicons as lab assistants and test subjects and kidnappers for test subjects.
Nowadays she's mostly working on investigating the intricacies of the living Spark, and continues any of Shockwave's work that he left behind, convinced that he'll be coming back. She's so close to the completion of the personal Ground Bridge, that she can almost taste it... all she needs is a few hundred more test subjects and she's done.
Nibblets :
Soon after she began working with/for Shockwave, Kick-Start created Nibblets - which are seen scuttling all over the Rust Ruins in Fall Of Cybertron. They're scavengers of dead metal, physically harmless, although occasionally about fifty could get together and take on a petro-rabbit, if they got the drop on it. Nibblets can most often be found clearing rubble by eating it, and can perform other repetitive repair and maintanance tasks as a collective. Most of all, they are living security cameras, ready to transmit everything they see and hear to a single reciever, but not many people are aware of this, since destroying a Nibblet is both fun and easy.
Kick-Start originally built a remote that when plugged into a computer, can allow her to take control of hundreds of Nibblets for a single task like lifting, carrying, and body disposal. She can use it to take control of a single Nibblet, and use its main function as a living security camera to scout. And if it's destroyed, there are always more Nibblets. There are situations where a large group of Nibblets could become a threat to a mech who is already injured and weak, but these are incredibly rare, and you probably wouldn't need hundreds of Nibblets in such circumstances anyway. When not plugged in, the remote has a much weaker radius of effect.
Through an oversight of programming, when Nibblets aren't eating or following mindless repair tasks, they're building more Nibblets to their specifications - all Nibblets instinctively recognise Kick-Start as 'mommy' since it was in their original programming. This reproduction has led to them becoming effectively planet-wide vermin on a level with cockroaches and a similar chance of ever being exterminated, scuttling around in dark holes, under ruins, in abandoned buildings... but in an especially concentrated number in the areas wherever Kick-Start has a hidden lab.
Nibblets can be trained as pets. They are about the size of a large dog and look a lot like large, four-legged beetles.
Strengths :
- Kick-Start is (probably) the most intelligent Decepticon alive.
- Kick-Start can command Nibblets easily, quickly, individually and in groups.
- Wearing the extra armour has resulted in Kick-Start being unexpectedly strong when she takes it off.
- Most of Kick-Start's outer body is not actually the real Kick-Start; it's what remains of Two-Ton, and is insensitive to pain and easily repaired.
Weaknesses :
- Wearing an extra alt-mode comes at the cost of firepower. Kick-Start's weaponry is very light and her range weapons are non-integrated.
- She's a coward - she hates getting into physical battle and prefers others to do it for her, despite her potential for physical strength.
- She's clever - but she's not as clever as she likes to think herself, and that can be her downfall sometimes.
- Kick-Start's real body is at its most vulnerable when she has her outer shell transform, since her real body has little armour.
- Nibblets don't make up for any of Kick-Start's physical weaknesses. Also she's rather fond of them and doesn't like breaking them or people who break them for no reason. Nibblets have feelings too!
