Following the end of the War for Cybertron, the Autobots, Decepticons and others made a desperate attempt to leave the doomed planet. The Ark and Nemesis engaged each other in a full on battle, heading towards a spacebridge that would lead them to salvation. With the portal unstable, the fighting was intense, and both ships barely made it through it before it closed. The spacebridge spat the two factions out in the middle of unknown space, leaving their ships to drift. Within time, the Autobots and Decepticons oriented themselves, though both Optimus and Megatron were MIA. With new leaders, the factions began exploring the sector in which they had ended up - discovering numerous planets, one of which was inhabited with organic life. Nebulon.
For years, Nebulon was untouched by the war, left to grow and evolve as fighting continued in the solar system around them, outposts and bases for both Autobots and Decepticons spanning across planets and moons alike. Neither faction interfered with Nebulon, as they believed the planet held little use; but that was only until the discovery of Nucleon was made. A rush to make use of the new and valuable resource ensued, with very little of the once tranquil planet being spared from conflict. Revitalized by the process of creating energon of Nucleon, the war almost went back into full swing, with the only thing that either sides were short on being sparks to create new soldiers. This new war spanned the entire solar system, during which an Autobot moon was devastated after being struck by one of its own islands, and even a Nebulonian colony world was subjected to a rampaging virus that turned the population into zombie-like Cybertronian hybrids. During this time, the Nemesis was also shot down over Nebulon in an Autobot raid, though it returned to functionality months later.
Despite the prosperity that Nucleon had brought the Cybertronians, they still longed for a way to revitalize Cybertron and restart the growth of their dwindling population. So it was with little surprise that when news of Cybertronian artifacts, found on a distant planet with the power to revive Cybertron, reached the factions - a mass exodus ensued so that they may obtain these relics. Initially the planet they were located on was believed to be full of unintelligent organic life, known as Dinosaurs, but upon reaching Earth's solar system, the factions learnt that a new dominant species had emerged, one that had capitalized on their discovery of the artifacts - the Human race.
Recognizing the growing power of the humans, the factions decided to employ Infiltration protocols, sending small teams aboard scout craft (the Regenesis and the Victory), to retrieve the relics. Ultimately, only one relic was necessary to revive Cybertron - the AllSpark, which was obtained by neither side. Instead, human tinkering caused it's apparent "destruction", but instead they had provoked the return of the Allspark’s energies to Cybertron. Now, the planet was beginning to revive itself, and thus yet another mass exodus ensued, with Cybertronians across the galaxy making a desperate bid to return home.
