BASICS
Designation : C. Compass
Nicknames: Compy, La Passa (by those more mean-spirited folk)
Gender : Neutral-gendered
Faction : Decepticon
Occupation : Scout/stealth operative
Personality : Compass is a very effeminate ‘bot despite the claim to no gender. He’ll accept either line of terminology when others are referring to him, but he’ll encourage the male adjective given the chance in order to, in his words, “Keep it simple and straightforward for the...ehm...others.” The other, less obvious reason; he doesn’t want other Decepticons thinking that he’s weaker than they already do.
He readily accepts orders without protest, leading to situations where he often over-promises on his abilities and ends up desperately overcompensating in other areas to make up for his lack of delivery. For example, if he were ordered to retrieve a valuable artifact AND destroy an Autobot in the process, he’d not succeed in either task and take it upon himself to amass several weeks’ worth of unsavory patrol duties to make up for it.
Compass is calm and reserved, usually allowing others to speak for him because he’s too intimidated to or too shy. This shouldn’t be mistaken for anti-socialism because he is frequently spotted hovering around other bots, craving social interaction even though he is too busy making up for his mistakes to attain any.
APPEARANCE
Optic ( Eye ) Color : Violet
Primary Paint Color : Silver
Secondary Paint Color : Indigo

Features:
- The two pointed tips of the wings create a cowl-like formation on Compass's back plate.
- A solid visor adorns his face, obscuring his eyes and nose leaving only the intake visible.
- The turbines form the cadulen of Compass's legs, resulting in stiletto-like heel struts when he transforms to robot mode.
Alternative Mode:
DZYNE Ascent 1000
Equipment and Abilities
Weaponry :
- Energon battle pistol - A small lightweight pistol with scope, enhanced zoom and armor-piercing capability resultant of a direct hit.
- Thermo-mine - Medium-sized spherical time-delayed grenade. The thermo-mine, when set, immediately seeks out a target and detonats upon contact.
- Energon-draining bo staff - Upon extension to its full length, the bo staff can eject tendril-like wires that, upon contact with a target, begin draining energon reserves. These reserves are then stored in the staff itself for easy transport or consumption.
Gadgets :
- Multi-purpose scanner - An advanced piece of technology integrated directly into his visor, it can act as radar, spectral analysis device, composition analysis device, jammer, amplifier, and microwave.
- Moldable holographic projector - A modified projector that can create a huge variety of images and even recreate images directly from Compass's visor and memories.
Abilities :
- Extended hibernation - Compass can go into a low-energon consuming state for prolonged periods of time. It's not a shutdown because he is still fully operational and aware of his surroundings, but in a battle of outlasting another 'bot's energy, he would win.
- Cloaking - Of course a scout has to have the ability to cloak. Compass can distort the light waves around him to bend, mimicking his surroundings and rendering him, for all intents and purposes, invisible. This does not render him impervious to scanning equipment such as energon detectors, however.
OTHER
History [Optional as some like to make it up as they go along] : (( I am glad this section is optional. This character is freshly minted so I'll make it up as I go. ))
Strengths :
- What many Decepticons would consider a fatal flaw or filthy Autobot trait is something Compass displays. In part due to his over-compensating nature, even when not ordered to sometimes he will volunteer for dangerous or unsavory positions in away teams or squads, his logic being that, "If no one else wants to do it I might as well do it." This has actually given him some varied field skills (e.g. medical, tactics and communications). The phrase jack of all, master of none is applicable.
- Being shorter and more lightweight than other Decepticons, Compass has an edge when it comes to maneuverability. He's quick and light on his feet and in the air, making him a difficult target to hit. Of course, this means that he can't hit very hard himself, but his profession dictates that not be a requirement for his continued service.
- As his name would suggest, Compass has an excellent sense of direction. Both from his experience as a scout and stealth operative, he always knows where he is going. He can project holographic maps of areas he's seen at a moment's notice, giving his superiors valuable intel about the environment.
Weaknesses :
- Naturally quiet, Compass has a significant deal of difficulty calling things out in the heat of battle. When he can manage to operate his vocal processors, what comes out is usually a stuttering single-word sentence such as, "B-bomb! Bomb! BOMB!" or, "Drop, drop, drop, drop, drop--!!" 'Bots who pay attention to the tone of his voice can usually determine its urgency and if they were paying attention to the situation, they may also know what he's talking about.
- He readily accepts orders without protest, leading to situations where he often over-promises on his abilities and ends up desperately overcompensating in other areas to make up for his lack of delivery. Consequently, he sometimes ends up running himself ragged and appearing in situations he is not prepared for, causing more harm than good and ending up in even worse positions than before.
- Compass is weak. Very weak. Almost uncharacteristically weak even for a Decepticon scout. Taking on even the most basic law enforcement 'bot back on Cybertron would be a challenge for him. As a result, Compass has always focused on maneuverability over strength tactics, meaning that in a hand-to-hand fight he would end up being completely useless. In those situations, dumb luck is his only friend.
SAMPLE RP
Compass sighed. He looked to his right, out the window of the space station. The space above Cybertron, normally lit up with so many explosions, was still and calm and had the stars shimmering through the blackness. That was the reason they'd chosen now to send him and other Decepticon operatives out in stasis pods. A lull in the battle was the perfect opportunity to slip through unsuspecting Autobot barricades.
Of course, their superiors weren't without tact; none of them knew where they were going, lest they were captured and interrogated by the enemy. These Decepticon scouts would be of little use to the Primes and generals of the opposing force; even if the Autobots tried to use them as bargaining chips, their own commanders had dozens more on hand that they could use. In short, Compass and his band of experimental operatives were completely expendable.
The siren sounded. He tore his eyes away from the tempered glass as the door in front of him hissed. It cracked open, a plume of smoke billowing fourth and causing Compass's exhaust ports to clog up. He coughed and stepped back, waving his hands to try and disperse the cryo fumes. After a few seconds the atmosphere was clear enough for him to turn back towards the open stasis pod.
As much apprehension as he was carrying in his processor and chassis, he had his orders. He wasn't about to just up and quit, one of his more desirable traits, according to his commanders. Putting one pede in front of the other was almost a surreal experience now. His digits wrapped themselves around the handles inside the pod and he forced himself inside, spinning around and sitting down. The doors hissed again, sliding shut as more cryo gas began venting while the pod rapidly dropped in temperature. Compass felt his optic coverings slide shut, and the last thing he remembered was a robot voice saying, "Cryostasis cycle complete. Initiating launch sequence."
