A lot has been floating about lately with regards to ships, their limitations, permitted uses in RP, etc. etc. I was wondering whether or not there's an official list of rules regarding ship usage floating anywhere on the forums, among the rumors. If there is, I'd greatly appreciate it if an admin could link it to me so I might have a look at it to put my curiosity to rest once and for all.
Now, on that same page, I was wondering (if no such link exists, or if the rules don't specify this yet) what acceptable ship usage perimeters are. For example, could you have a small, mech-sized unmanned drone? Could someone have a single-passenger airship without any weapons? Could someone retrofit an escape pod to work as a makeshift shuttle for flying around from place to place? I'd really like some clarification on this.
See, I have a plot coming up that I would like to enter for consideration. Before I so much as mention a single detail of this plot, I need to know the acceptable perimeters of ship usage on the forums. My most important question- the question I'd really like answered above all, for personal reasons, is this:
If I were to have a group of characters go to an abandoned, broken down, crash-landed ship that cannot fly, would it be allowed to be turned into a sort of make-shift base of operations? When I say 'base of operations,' I mean- would it be allowed to have shielding technology (limited, but existent) for attacks, to allow the people inside time enough to pack up and get out? Could we have comm. jamming technology for short range? Could we use an engine to power basic ship systems, like automatic doors? lighting fixtures? medical and science equipment?
What I'm saying is this- the ship I'm proposing is one that does not work, in that it does not, and cannot, nor will it be able to ever fly in the future. Would that sort of thing be allowed?
Whatever the case, thanks for taking the time to read my questions in advance. I eagerly anticipate the answer to my concerns.
