Overwatch pine is a forest overlooking the chilly, rocky shore of the pacific ocean. The forest, sitting on a cliff, is home to some of the oldest pine trees in the country, some being bigger than average. The forest is remote, and hardly is ever touched by even scientists.

A groundbridge would open near the cliff, which Astrinal came walking out with a large bottle of high grades in her servo. Astrinal washed back a single gulp, then turned around after the groundbridge closed. Then, silently, Astrinal sat alongst the cliff side and looked out into the sea, having one of her legs dangling over the cliff, while the other was against her chestplate.
Astrinal wondered why she found so much comfort in this spot. Throughout most of her time as Crash, she'd come to this spot once a week and stare into the sunset. It was so- silent. She assumed it reminded her of the hill before the war, the one where she'd sit and look at the sunset every night. It was a spot she and her brother shared every night, and chase the firebugs after the sunset back home. And he'd always beat her in races back to the house. Those days- so long ago.. And the thing was, it was when she had those magnetic wheels. What did she do to those things? Surely they were laying around somewhere..
What happened to her. What made her into such a train wreck, a total glitch. What made her seem so heartless that she couldn't even let her war pal just a little bit closer. Astrinal sighed, taking another swig of her high grade. Was she scared? Of- happiness? Getting out of the war efforts? Dying for something she would protect? Being wreckless? Idea of such things were- foreign. She hadn't had anyone really close since Gelna, who'd died because of her. And after that child's death, she vowed to never have a family, never even have love relations. But what about after the war, if the war ended. Would she give that vow up. No, the guilt of such deeds would be nearly punishing to her. Guilt, for the rest of her life..
Astrinal kept thinking, looking into the sunset... The clouds made it gloomy today, yet very pretty. Taking something out of her storage compartment, Astrinal revealed some form of cybertronian sketchpad. Then, with an old fashion pencil, she began to draw the scene.
Drawing was something she did as a little girl, and did it to remember things that some wouldn't be able to remember. It was like a diary, a memory bank, but only something she could decode.

A groundbridge opened up close to Astrinal as the crimson figure walked out of it, slowly stepping towards the femme officer. He stood next to her for a moment, looking out over the hill before looking down at her sketch pad. He chuckled for a second, before lowering himself into a crouch next to her. "You're real trouble, you know that?" he joked, admiring the sketch the soldier was drawing. "Didn't think you to be the arty type, considering the show you put on down there." Soul gestured behind him towards the closed groundbridge, before lowering down completely , both his legs dangling over the cliff. "People get real suspicious when you're trying to locate recent groundbridge locations, especially when a high-ranking officer 'as just gone through one. Shady, I admit, but how else would I 'ave found you?" he chuckled silently as he stretched upwards and leaned back, lying against the grass with his legs off of the cliff.

"When someone wants to be left alone, normally it means leave them alone." Astrinal grumbled plainly, releasing no emotion. "And if you think you have a shot with me, You have another thing coming. Now can you leave.." Closing the sketchpad and hiding it, Astrinal brought her bottle of energon to her lips. Then, with a gulp, she lowered it again. "Seriously, if you think you know how to charm girls, you obviously don't know what space is."

Soul-Flare groaned inaudibly, this was insane! "I'm not tryin' to charm you or hit on you or any of that captain..." he spoke clamly and soothingly. "I'm tryin' to be a good comrade and friend. Now, you're responses are quite glum and snappy, so why don't you just empty your thoughts onto me? When people need space, a lotta the time they just need a friend to talk to. No, I'm offering myself as a verbal punching bag. But, if the need so arrises as your sense of release, I can be you sparring partner too. Ya know, give me the ol' one two to relieve soma the stress? Sound good?"

Sound good? ""It's Commander Astrinal to you, kid." Astrinal snapped, already pissed off. All she wanted was some time alone, and this- jag came along and started to annoy her.. AGAIN. "And your not my friend, I am your superior, and i'm partially your enemy. I don't need any of your offers, I need you to leave. And if you don't go willingly, I'll have someone make you leave."
Astrinal spoke with a harshness only the unlucky got to see. Astrinal- overall- didn't have friends. She had people she trusted, but not friends. As far as she was concerned, It was her and Taggon, and the A19 squad. Riptide was kinda on the line, one of those guys whom- even she- was unsure about. But this idiot was sucking up, and she didn't like that.
"You heard me, leave me the hell alone."

"You know what, no. I have just tried my best to try and cheer you up. But here you are-" Soul-Flare was up by now, gesturing angrily to his surroundings, "HERE YOU ARE TRYIN' TO MAKE IT OUT LIKE I'M THE BAD GUY!" he roared at the superior, his metaphorical line shattering into a million little pieces as Astrinal steamrollered over it. "SO, little miss snappy, you're gonna shut the HELL UP and let me help, or you're gonna have to make me leave. I don't care who you think you are, but you think you can THREATEN ME because of your position, well you have it a-ll wrong!" Soul-Flare Eyes had gone from the usual lush green to without colour, lifeless as if he was about to do something stupid or brutal to this femme in front of him. "And I'm not gonna go down easily if you choose to fight!"

"You can't force me to be cheered up, because the next thing you know I'll be unhappy. When I just spoke a minute there, I didn't say you were the bad guy, I was."
Astrinal then took a drag of her cigarette, and watched the smoke disappear into the breeze. "And kid, that's my idea of being polite. I can be an utter Glitch if you'd like."

Soul-Flare sighed angrily, relaxing his body as his eyes regained the normal colouration. "You're not even worth it." he muttered, a ground bridge opening behind him in which he entered, his crimson figure disappearing into the light show.

Just as soon as Hex had left, Riptide appeared in another groundbridge. He walked out of the vortex and stretched, yawning a bit. The blue mech walked up beside Astrinal and crossed his arms, staring out at the sunset.
I'm here, sorry about the bar by the way. Just a head's up, that mech said he was gonna go after you.
Riptide looked down and around him, raising an optic ridge.
Though by those footprints I'm guessing he's already been here. You didn't throw him over the cliff did you?
He said with a slight chuckle.

"Wish I did." Astrinal stated without hesistation, then taking another drag on her cigarette. "So, I wanted to talk to you- something that should be behind closed doors. And since people really enjoy following me, I decided that maybe- outdoors would be a better idea. I have an offer..."Astrinal stood up, brushing herself off with her free servo. "I checked some of your reports, then seem- promising. If I gave you a few assignments, how would you fair if I asked you to join the Argo 19 Strike Squad? With the shift of ranks, I've lost two men..."

He seemed like too much of a go-getter if you get what I mean. Doesn't appreciate the hunt... frag I just said that out loud.
He smirked awkwardly and rubbed the back of his head before blowing out some air from his intake. He heard what Astrinal said and crossed his arms again, his faceplate now serious and focused.
Argo 19? Like Jason and the Argonauts?
He grinned a little.
Sorry, I did a lot of reading as a kid. Learning Earth culture is a thing of mine. Anyways, you'll have to fill me in on some more details on your squad. If you don't mind of course.

"the A19 Strike Squad is a Black Ops group, and a team that goes outside normal autobot protocol and does what's necessary- no matter the outcome. I would go on, but- uh- The team's got a bad rep lately. Ya' know, the Taggon blowin' up the medbay thing."
Astrinal paused, grasping a cigarette and lighting it yet again. She offered the opening of the pack to Riptide, almost offering him one.

Taggon blew up a what?!
He said, shock coming over his faceplate. Riptide stood for a moment with his mouth agape before closing it and turning towards the sunset. He began thinking about what he had just learned. The mech, though still rather new to warfare, knew there was lines that should never be crossed. One of those was blowing up a place for healing and rest.
Astrinal, I know you said you guys go outside normal Autobot protocol... but, you guys are still Autobots. There are, or should be, lines even for hardcore black ops groups.

"I know it was, and the situation already has been taken care of. Look.."
Putting her cigarettes away, Astrinal shook her helm. "If your interested, get back to me. I've got some stuff I need to do." With that said, Astrinal turned around and entered the newly manifested groundbridge, only for it to close after she disappeared.

I like the way you work it...
Riptide awoke to the smooth sounds of Blackstreet, leaning against a large boulder with an empty high grade cube lying next to him.
No diggity...
He moaned and shook his head, standing up and turning off the music. The two earbud like devices unplugged from his audio receptors and lowered back down into his collar. Dust caked his formerly shiny blue armor and his back gears were sore. Nevertheless, he felt better rested than he had in months. He checked his internal clock and found that he had been asleep for the past week. Riptide bounced on the balls of his pedes as he tried to remember how he had fell into that deep of a recharge.
~Let's see, I was thinking over Ast's proposal. Then I started thinking of her and drunk a spiked high grade to knock me out, but not before I had began listening to my music. Never would've guessed I would sleep for a week. I need to recharge more often...~
He shrugged his shoulders before picking up his empty cube and tossing it into his subspace. Riptide called for a groundbridge and answered the operator's questions about where he had been before sitting down on a rock and waiting for the portal to appear. When it spiraled into existence, he stood and walked through it.
