The room was small, a berth a desk with a chair and several screens, one acting as a window out into space.
Dark Mercy was lying face down on his bed, his power armor and effects lay to one side on a wall by the door into his room. The voices had stopped for some time, occasionally he'd hear his own thoughts... his own voice calling out Gearchange and how he should come back to Feenix...
Killing his brother had made him insane, so he'd thought and this was the end of the line. The mech vents out, his body rising up as he did so. Stuffing another pillow over his helm to try and dampen the noise of the ship and his internal thoughts.

The door slid open and Dark Mercy entered, shedding the power armor in its damaged state, he took to repairing it, working on the most damaged systems first.
He'd retreated to his room to consider the Autobots and what they had said to him, going over the events which had just passed.
The mirror... He had seen Gearchange stare back at him.
Then came the battle against Watchman... had he really hit his head that hard?
The mech paused... when he found himself standing up over Prime's body... a few seconds lapsed, had he not been in control.
The mech sets his tools down and looks to the mirror, Gearchange was standing aside him. Staring back at him.

I must be loosing my mind if I'm seeing you...
The mech blinks and the image of his brother dissapears.
The mech vents, looking back down to the power armor. Repairing it.
Making me doubt myself... its like I'm someone else on this damn ship...

There is a knock at the door. When Gearchange opens it, he will see Kick-Start, still on her crutches.
As a Commander, she has the right to clunk her way in without invitation.
"Hello again, Dark Mercy."

Commander Kick-Start, I didn't know you would be coming round so early.
The mech shifts his power armor to one corner.
Here for a doctor's visit?

"Something like that..."
Kick-Start takes a seat, preparing her speech in her head.
"You should take a seat..."

Dark Mercy sits down on the edge of the berh in his room.
Right, you wanted to tell me something?

"How can I put this least painfully..." Kick-Start lines up her speech, "Have you ever heard of Spark Displacement Syndrome, Dark Mercy?"

I cannot say that I have, I am no doctor that's for sure.
Are you concerned about my current condition?

"A little. And in another way, I can't say I'm surprised," Kick-Start rolls on, "While it's common in siblings, it's something that has only recently been given a name. When one offlines, they don't fully offline; they... return to the spark that still functions. They merge again. The feelings of loss and longing are not merely yours, but also your sibling's spark inside of you."
She continues.
"There is something you must know. Gearchange is not technically offline. He lives on. In you. That's partly why you're suffering this conflict."

This conflict though, its not like he's trying to take over... he's just watching over me.
Like a bad memory you can't get rid of.
Kick-Start are you sure?

"I've done research. Hacked Autobot files," Kick-Start continues, "And I believe that... Gearchange's body still functions..."
Oh damn... But perhaps it's for the best, to get him out of the Decepticon base.
"Ah, frag it. Dark Mercy... you are being decieved."

Decieved... by who?
Autobots tell me I'm Gearchange, I find the same markings on my face belonging to my brother.
Anyone would think that I am him.
I want answers Kick-Start, why am I being taken for Gearchange?

The most important thing to do now is to not let Gearchange know that she was in on it from the start.
"You are not... technically... a Decepticon," Kick-Start grimaces, "You were a Mercenary known as Gearchange who has worked for both sides. Thanks to your fighting skills, Lord Shockwave wanted to cement your loyalty to us, and stop having to pay you. After you refused, he... ahem... changed your mind."
She squirms a little, eyeing the door. It's a half-truth at least. This way she'll probably get out of the room in one piece.
"As a former Mercenary, much - all of what you have been doing is... things you would not hesitate to do, but normally would demand payment. In a way, Lord Shockwave granted you mercy. Dark Mercy."

And these voices... they haven't been me going insane, these have been the voices of Feenixfire?
Was this also Shockwaves doing?
The mech stares back into the mirror, rubbing the side of his face where his tribal markings would be.
My existence has been a complete lie, all because the Decepticons wanted to keep me for themselves...
Perhaps a second opinion is in order. Gearchange replaced Dark Mercy's reflection.
I am going to need to ask a favor... Grant me access to Shockwave's Lab. It is there where I will find the truth...

"No, no, no! Feenixfire had some kind of... crush... on you. You obliged her for business reasons..."
Kick-Start fingers the needle hidden under her armour. It's a fast-acting sedative in case of an emergancy. She's hoping she can use it fast enough if necessery.
"I... really don't think I should- can grant you access to Lord Shockwave's Lab," she's thinking of the extensive information that shows she had awareness of this, and that what she's saying even now is a lie, "Maybe you should just leave... The door's right there," she points with one crutch.

I can't leave without taking what's left of me back... These aren't Gearchange's optics... nor these his digits...
Or would you keep them like some sort of sick memento?

"Aha... how would I know?" Kick-Start levers herself back to her feet, leaning away, "I mean, I only recently found out about all this... I couldn't watch you putting yourself and every Decepticon in danger with your increasing... problems. Besides, how could you possibly replace them?"
It's impossible to back away while using crutches, but Kick-Start sure is trying.

I know someone who could...
Even if you don't wan't to, he doesn't discriminate.
Kick-Start, If I am not real then at least help Gearchange.
The mech stands up.

"I... I..." the diminutive femme cringes, torn between her loyalties to Lord Shockwave and to her patient.
"I will help you. But you have to promise me something first. You have to promise not to offline me."
