ARMOR AND WEAPONRY
Armor
Armor Description:
- Grimlock's armor is composed of an incredibly hard and heat-resistant alloy. Characterized by its defined look and incredible gloss, despite wear and tear, it is shared by only a few other bots.
- Grimlock's armor is thick and his joints are designed to be as durable and damage-resistant as possible. This increases his already considerable bulk. Beneath his armor, a flexible, fused, mesh-like structure covers much of his chassis, minimizing the damage of massive impacts. The chassis itself is impressively durable and flexible, covered in a coating of the same alloy used for his overlying armor.
- X5 heat-resistance
- X6 heavy-duty
Weaponry
Primary Weapon
Grimlock is capable of spewing great sheets of flame hot enough to melt metal and powerful enough to bowl all but the hardiest mechs and femmes off their feet. The weapon can be used only in his vehicle-form.
Secondary Weapon : NA
Other Weapons : His entire body, especially in Tyrannosaurus mode.
Description : Roughly the size of a small building, any sudden movement Grimlock makes too close to an opponent or friendly is bound to hurt. Add to that the fact that some parts of him brim with spikes, especially his forearms and back, which comprise his taloned hind limbs and fanged Dinomode head respectively. Furthermpre, in his beast-form, Grimlock's fiercesome jaws and powerful tail, along with his taloned feet, are all massive and powerful enough to end most combatants in one or two blows.
Gadgets : Grimlock wields an enormous great-shield, capable of deflecting and absorbing all but the most powerful explosions and blows. Massively heavy, the shield is almost a weapon in itself, and could easily be used to send smaller opponents flying, break the guard of others, or crush armro and body-part.
Melee : Super-heated greatsword
Melee Weapon Description (Optional): All but the strongest individuals would find this enormous sword difficult to use effectively. Grimlock has no such problems, and can whip the gargantuan, serrated sword about with frightening speed. The weapon exists in a constant state of near-melting, such is its energy-saturation. It can liquefy armor and cauterize wounds, and when it is active, even standing to close is enough to make one's optics water. It is possible to see waves of heat rippling off of it..... To make things worse for his opponents, it is nigh-impossible to disarm Grimlock; the weapon's grip bears a guard composed of the same super-heated, razor-sharp material as the blade, albeit shaped into slanted ridges meant to turn back attempts to slice down and through Grimlock's hand when swords are locked.
TECH SPECS
Note: This is based off a 1 to 10 scale. One is the lowest, then is the highest.
LIMITED TO 60 POINTS TOTAL.
Strength : 10 -Grimlock is as strong as they come. He is capable of ripping other Cybertronians apart, battering down obstacles and defenses bare-handed, and can shift thousands of tons without great effort. One of a very few individuals alive on-par with Predaking and the Predakings of elde.Intelligence : 3 -Grimlock is not technically stupid; his mental impairment is a result of Shockwave's experimentation; in exchange for great strength and power, he can hardly speak more than a sentence at a time and his thoughts feel muddled and twisty. On the battlefield, however, he functions just fine. 'Mistaking Grimlock for an idiot" might be the caption on more than a few graves.
Dexterity : 4 -Grimlock moves with purpose and poise, but his massive size and weight do not allow for any significant acrobatics.
Speed : 4 -Grimlock's lack of wheels or boosters prevent him from moving faster than his alternative form's legs can carry him, which is roughly 80mph, or thereabouts.
Endurance: 10 -Grimlock's durability and stamina match and exceed his size; the dinobot has survived mile-long falls, years of torture, starvation.... Nothing but the most powerful weaponry even slows him down. Few but his fellow Dinobot, and Shockwave's newest creation, Predaking, can be said to be even close to Grimlock's equal.
Firepower : 5 -Grimlock lacks any sort of ranged weapon in robot-form, and in vehicle form, is limited to spewing clouds of white-hot flame. While destructive, the fire can reach only a few hundred feet in front of his mouth and lacks any sort of targetting-system.
Accuracy: 5 -The few times Grimlock has attempted to pick up a projectile weapon, he has found his servos jerky and too large for most triggers. He can shoot, but his aim is not what it was.
Melee : 10 -Grimlock retained his expertise with close-combat entirely; his mass belies the swiftness with which he can bring sword, shield, or fists to bear. In addition, his dino-form wields wickedly sharp teeth and claws, and a powerful tail.
Tech Skill : 2 -Techwhat? Yes, he can use a groundbridge. Don't expect much beyond that. His fingers are too big anyway.....
OTHER
Personality : It's hard to really pin down Grimlock's traits; how much of him is him, and how much of him is directly or indirectly a result of his torture and re-formatting at the hands of Shockwave? The titan is relatively quiet off the battlefield, and if prompted, generally only answers in a few monosyllabic words. If pushed, he can sometimes rattle off a few sentences so smoothly or behave so in-contro,, he almost sounds normal... This only serves to frustrate Grimlock when he is left stuttering and searching for the meaning of a word, or fuming with rage over a small incident only a few cycles later.
Grimlock also has troubles with empathy; he knows what's right, and he knows what he has to do, but sometimes.... Sometimes all he wants to do is rend and burn and destroy. He finds himself stricken with strange thoughts and the urge to kill others for no reason at all. He is belligerent and impatient not just because of his mental state, but because he fears himself and desires to keep others at arm's-length. The only people he finds himself consistantly caring for are his team-mates, his fellow freak-in-arms. And they're scattered to the winds....
Courage: 10 -Grimlock rides the fine line between being stupidly courageous and courageously stupid. Odds of survival are math, and math is for people who care about math. Grimlock hates math.
Charisma : 5 -Grimlock may be broody, easily angered, and more than a tiny bit terrifying, but he has experience leading a strike-team, and he knows how to talk to soldiers on the field and keep people in line.
History : Grimlock was birthed from the well of Allsparks right around the time Megatron was becoming a gladiator. Assigned the role of soldier by the caste-system, Grimlock learned the arts of martiality and battle quickly, and served as a protector for Iacon, beating back rebels and keeping the city's occupants well under the thumb of Zeta Prime. Growing disillusioned with what he learned was a corrupt system relatively early on, Grimlock briefly joined the fledgling Decepticon cause, but abandoned it as Megatron became more extreme and went on to serve the Autobots and Optimus Prime.
He served as a frontlines soldier well into the war, and eventually rose high enough to command a strike-team of four other mechs he would come to regard as friends and family. In the shadow of the Exodus, during the last years of the war on Cybertron, Grimlock was abducted by Decepticon forces after abandoning his post to investigate what he was sure were the first stirrings of a large Decepticon operation near the edge of the Sea of Rust.
He was right; captured by Shockwave, he was tortured and tinkered with for months. Over dozens of surgeries and experimental procedures, Grimlock was twisted into a feral beast the likes of which Cybertron had not seen for aeons beyond remembering. The power of a Predacon was instilled into him and his companions, whom he subsequently re-named "Dinobots", after breaking free of his imprisonment and re-uniting with them. Confused and brimming with rage, Grimlock rampaged across Shockwave's sprawling lab-facility in the Sea of Rust, eventually cornering his cycloptic nemesis, and savaging him in revenge, mangling his frame and tearing an arm off. Before he could finish the job, the damaged facility collapsed into ruin, allowing Shockwave to flee with no further harm, but burying Grimlock in tens of thousands of tons of rubble after a kilometers-long fall.
After digging himself out, Grimlock is found by his Dinobots, and the group sets out for Iacon, where rumor says a group of Autobots lead by Ultra Magnus remain to combat the threat presented by those Decepticons still on Cybertron...
Family : None. Grimlock was birthed from the Well of Allsparks, and lacks any biological ancestors or siblings. He does, however, consider his team something very like family. While all are alive, Grimlock no longer knows their locations, or whether they will make it to earth as he did.....
Strengths :
- It would be presumptuous to call Grimlock one of the most powerful beings of Cybertronian origin or ancestry currently active and alive, but it would also be true. Grimlock harkens back to the Predacons and Elder Primes most Cybertronians consider folklore and exaggeration as far as shear power goes.
- Grimlock is an accomplished swordsman; if he hacks and slashes like a bushguide with a machete, it's only because he has no need to use his blade with any restraint or finesse against most opponents.
- Grimlock may be psychologically and mentally retarded to a considerable degree, but he has not lost his prowess as a battlefield tactician and a military commander.
- Grimlock's massive durability is matched by his determination and will to survive and come out victorious against all odds and opponents. Once he sets his mind to a path, the Dinobot will almost always move forwards until he no longer has the spark or limbs to do so.
Weaknesses :
- Grimlock is fairly slow. It's not like he's a slug or anything, but smaller opponents could certainly outrun or outflank him in battle or pursuit. That isn't to say that stabbing him in the back or dodging his attacks would be easy.....
- Grimlock's ability to participate in and understand activities that require finesse and complex thought and calculations is heavily hampered by the toll Shockwave's experiments cast on him. He can use a console or control for the basic use of tech if he really needs to, but he has neither the desire nor the capacity to do much beyond that.
- Grimlock lacks a proper ranged weapon in robot mode, making snipers and heavily-armed hit-and-runs a real thorn in his hide.
- Grimlock has a very short temper, and even when he isnt being pestered, he's prone to bouts of rage or confusion. Hes still perfectly capable of fighting like this, but good luck getting him to see reason. For the love of Primus, don't tell him to calm down.
SAMPLE RP
The alarm-claxon was nearly drowned out by the sound of gunfire. The peds of a half-dozen Eradicons crunched in the black sands of Kaon, hardened slag ground to metallic black powder. Each held a large energy rifle to theor shoulder, fingers squuezing frantically at the weapons' triggers even as they made a steady retreat from their advancing target. A chunk of metal the size of a small house bowls over one, crushing his armor and snapping one arm off, his weapon tumbling away as he clatters limply to the ground, kicking up a puff of dust that pales next to the geyser of sand, shrapnel, and detritus that rises from the metal chunk's impact.
A form that stands better than double the height of the Eradicons trundles through sand, the backguard of a equally massive, firey greatsword resting against his shoulder. A shield matching the sword in scale is grasped in his other hand, half-raised, soaking up the firepower with roughly the same difficulty a rosebed might find in absorbing a stream of water from a garden-hose.
The Eradicons abruptly find themselves out of room, backs clunking against a blast-door. Their allies had locked them out..... With Grimlock.
Muffled screams, accompanied by a few sharp thuds, were all that made it in.
The Vehicon gulped. The Titanicon merely chuckled, confidence ensured by a brain that had roughly the same power as a toaster. Sparks and scraps of rust fell from the edges of the door-frame as a tremendous impact rattled it. A second blow snapped the cross-lock and tore three of the left side's four guidance tracks, causing the door to bulge inwards, the meter-and-a-half-thick metal that it was composed of keening in protest. A third blow sent both halves of the dppr pin-wheeling inwards, flattening the Eradicon and causing the Titan to reel with the impact.
Raising his head and sighting his ion-cannon was as close as he got to firing a shot; the sword-blow that killed him punched down through the top of his head, through the length of his spine, through his chest and chassis, bisecting his rudimentary spark, then continuing on to lodge somewhere just above his pelvis. Grimlock grunts and raises the weapon, shaking it once or twice to rid the weapon pf the corpse, which sloughed to the ground nearly in two pieces......
