Grimlock was indeed not indestructible, but pooring machine-gun fire at the front of his shield was a poor means of testing the limits of his durability.
As the bullets rattled off the face of the shield, kicking up great gouts of sparks and producing a staccato clatter, Grimlock simply advanced, moving at a steady stride that ate up ground a fair deal faster than Tallymark's constant backstepping. When he was close enough, the Dinobot let out a bestial roar and swung his sword in a downwards cleaving attack. The strike was designed to cleave Tallymark in half, or at least split him from stem to stern.
If the attack missed, Grimlock would roll forward, and follow up with a second sweeping attack designed to cut Tallymark's head clean off.

Tallymark rolls out of the way of the downward attack, he opens fire at a rock beside Grimlock as he rolls. Tallymark then ducks as the second attack nearly misses his head. The bullets meanwhile hit the rock and ricochet and fly toward's the side of Grimlock not covered by the shield.

((Backbeat.... Bullets tend to be harder than rock... And if they weren't, they wouldn't even scratch Grimlock. This doesn't make sense....))
Unfortunately, Tallymark's magical bouncing bullets only skimmed the back of Grimlock's shins as the Dinobot continued to move forwards rapidly in pursuit of his opponent, leaving molten smears of their own matter along the back of his armored legs. It was debatable whether they really would have done much to begin with, seeing as they apparantly bounced off rock, which was far softer than Grimlock's armor.
The dinobot swung his shield at Tallymark like a bludgeon, growling, then swept his sword in from the other side....
Grimlock was beginning to lose patience. The little Decepticon annoyed him....

(( The antarctic is known for it's iron deposits... It bounced off one of those... ))
Tallymark takes a few steps back, dodging the shield... But the sword slices the machine gun in half...
Tallymark: Aw scrap....
Tallymark tosses a smoke grenade vertically into the air as he makes a break for it, his lighter frame should allow him to outrun the dinobot...

((OOOOOHHH. Ok. That makes loads more sense.))
Grimlock goes for another swing, but the smoke grenade Tallymark tossed has the fortune, or, perhaps, misfortune, of landimg right on the lip of Grimlock's chest, and promptly exploding.
The massive dinobot growls in frustration as his vision is obscured entirely.
He swats the speant grenade off his chest and beats rapidly at the smoke, which is making it completely impossible for the dinobot to see or pursue Tallymark....

(( I honestly have a Wikipedia page about this open right now... ))
Tallymark continues running, activating his invisibility to avoid giving away his location, after a few miles he slides behind a large rock pile. He takes out his sniper rifle and takes aim, the flaming sword was an excellent way to detect his foe...

As Grimlock continued to fan at the smoke, having a hard time dissipating it, Tallymark might begin to notice that while the smoke had allowed him to escape, it was currently making a headshot nigh-impossible; everything from Grimlock's waist up was obscured by the grey cloud of particulates.
Grimlock bellows in frustration, striding forwards, a pall of smoke clinging to him....

Tallymark holds his position behind the rocks, being invisible he didn't have to worry about the dinobot finding him quickly...
Tallymark holds off on firing, waiting for a clear shot...

Unfortunately, the moment the smoke began to dissipate, the shield came back up. Grimlock strides across the arctic tundra, sword swaying in rhythm with his stride.
The dinobot may have been damaged goods, but his understanding of battlefield tactics was very much intact. He wasn't going to leave his head open to another shot, if he could help it.

The invisible Tallymark notes that the Dinobot has gone on the defensive, he pulls out a time bomb and places it next to the rock pile, he quickly covers it in snow and dashes towards a cliff edge nearby

Grimlock continues forwards. After a few cycles, he spots the rock-pile and notes the fact that it would make an excellent place for his opponent to fire from. However, he also notes the tracks leading away.
The snowstorm had nearly filled them in by the time Grimlock was near enough to see them, but only nearly.
They were visible enough for Grimlock to trace their trail... Instead of moving closer to the rock-pile, Grimlock moved parralel to the tracks leading towards Tallymakr, keeping his shield up as he strode through the blizzard....

At that moment the timer goes off, the bomb goes off, sending shrapnel towards Grimlock's back...
Tallymark reaches the cliff edge and begins to plant remote explosives near by... covering them in snow. Tallymark then sees the glow of Grimlock's sword... Using the illuminated areas as a guide, he takes aim at Grimock's head as well, assuming his trap has moved the shield away...

The mountain that was Grimlock moved only a little at the detonation of the bomb. He had gotten perhaps four steps away by the time it went off. That was to say, 36 meters.
While the explosion itself, the shrapnel, did no more than ping off his armor, the buffeting blastwave of superheated air and snow-turned-steam that followed was enough to make him stagger. Ironically, it was the shield that caused it; the massive slab of metal, coupled with his sword, which was not so light itself, made Grimlock front-heavy.
The blast-wave was just enough to send him stumbling forward, causing him to overbalance. To avoid falling, he slammed the base of his shield into the antarctic tundra, causing it to sink in nearly two meters.
This nearly left Grimlock's head open to a shot. Only a speedy ducking motion kept him from being wide-open to Tallymark.
But while it had nearly left him open to attack, the bomb taught him a lesson.... steam puffed from the featureless armored front of Grimlock's helm. Silent laughter rocked his chassis.
Oh, the Decepticon was welcome to take the free shot that would follow what Grimlock was about to do. It wouldn't kill Grimlock. But the idea Grimlock had gotten? That might just kill the arrogant sharpshooter...
Advancing even as Tallymark no doubt took the shot that presented itself as Grimlock moved his shield aside to make room for his sword, Grimlock halted perhaps three paces further forwards. Not more than a hundred yards ahead, he could make out, with great difficulty, a cliffside. It was nothing more than the closeness of the horizon that let him know it was there. Through the furious static of the storm, he could make out the grey void beyond the featureless white of the icy ground. A cutoff that was closer than it ought to have been on even ground.
He was not close enough even to see a ripple of distortion from his opponent's cloaked form, and with the weather, he probably would not have seen him at point-blank, but he had little doubt he was ahead.
BOOM.
Grimlock slammed his sword into the earth, burying it to its hilt.
BOOM!
He did it again. Steam rose from the earth in great gouts, wreathing Grimlock's frame, and the earth creaked beneath him....

The invisible Tallymark looks at Grimlock and shrugs, thinking head wound has finally taken it's toll on Grimlock,
Tallymark notes his predicament and sends a comm to his employer
Tallymark: It's me... Ran into some trouble, damn heavy armor type... I need a groundbridge
he then receives a comm on a secure channel... A familiar voice is heard
' Your going to owe me... But that's what you get for JUMPING to conclusions... '
Tallymark looks over the cliff's edge as he sees a groundbridge begun to form just below the cliff. He loads armor piercing rounds into his sniper rifle and opens fire at Grimlock...

BOOM!
All thirteen meters of Grimlock's sword slam into the earth, Grimlock kneeling so that the blade disappears nearly up to the hilt.
It is as the titan rises that the bullet from Tallymakr's gun finds him. The round rips into the side of his neck as he's preparing to strike again.
Having found a joint, it succesfully pierces the armored outer sheathing of Grimlock's neck, shredding dermal energon-vessels before being forced out through the side by the flexing of a powerful metal tendon in Grimlock's neck. The refracted round, front-end smashed, continues on to smack into the back of Grimlock's armored collar, where it leaves a scorched dent, crushed to fragments on impact.
All of his takes perhaps a quarter of a second.
Grimlock snarls in pain, clapping his shield-hand to the wound in his neck as energon begins to dribble from the tear there. Enraged, the Dinobot pounds his sword furiously into the ground twice more.
The whole cliffside creaks, and snow poors off the edge, where Tallymark is standing, as the whole area tilts. Grimlock slams his sword again....
Snow and chunks of permafrosted earth begin to sift into a growing crevace at the Dinobot's feet. Earth moans beneath Tallymark as the cliffside begins to break, with the sharpshooter on it....

Tallymark notices his shot hit and uncloaks
Tallymark: Now your... Wait, what the-AHHHHH!
Tallymark beguins to slide towards the cliff edge as the clifside breaks, he desperately scrambles to hold on to the ground, but the thick ice prevents him
Tallymark I'll GET YOU FOR THIS!
Tallymark falls into the now formed Groundbridge as the explosives go off, kicking up a cloud of ice and snow... Masking the dramatic escape... Making it appear like he fell to his death... But in reality he fell into the groundbridge, which has now closed behind him.

Grimlock watched as the ground beneath the now-uncloaked Tallymark collapsed, taking the Decepticon with it as it slid away into the unknown, a mighty crash of rending earth and ice drowning out whatever his foe might have been saying.
Grimlock stepped back from the collapse, allowing the ice and earth a good minute to settle. When nothing emerged, Grimlock gave a rumble of what might have been satisfaction.
And then the Dinobot continued walking. He skirted the collapse, simply dropping down the cliffside, using his sword to slow his descent somewhat. When he landed, he found that the ground was less solid. It broke up beneath him.....
His feet sunk through the ice and into water. The water was deeper than Grimlock was tall, and so the Dinobot plunged rather rapidly through the ice, which was much to thin to support his enormous weight. Grimlock found himself in the dark. That didn't bother him too much.
Neither did the cold, for Grimlock burned with a heat too great for any earthly chill to extenguish.
Instead, the Dinobot, now 200 feet below the surface of the Antarctic Ocean, once again began to walk.

*Afterburner groundbridged to this area of Earth, it was far enough from the stress of the base at the moment, as the bridge closed behind her she could feel the downright coldness of the Antarctic, fortune smiled upon her as her Fire powers would keep her from freezing, already she could feel increasingly warmer as the heat inside her balanced out the coldness outside.
She spreads her wings and flew over to a rock, perching onto it and sighing. Listening to the peace.*

*A groundbridge opens with Feenix and Burnout stepping out into the cold, they were a mile or so away, so walking would be a good idea.*

I was going to ask about the clan markings, I feel ready to take the clan name fully...
But you want me to take a leading role in the Academy? Wouldn't Vampyricon and their gang seem more better fitted?
The mech shivers.
Brisk huh? I'm used to the arc's climate controlled ventilation, what do the humans call it. Room temperature?
