So for an event idea, I thought of the T-virus story arc, which is something like this.
A third faction that has remained neutral has finally come out of the shadows. A team of cybertronians that left cybertron millenia before the Ark or Nemesis were built. This faction took the secrets of advanced genetic science, and have finally returned. Releasing small nano-bots onto Earth in secrecy, these nano-bots took samples of cybertronian CNA when they were fighting one another or otherwise vulnerable, the only thing being able to sense them a super-acute radar or the fact they leave a sting, but by using the cover of fights they would attempt to sample CNA when another was attacking, blending the pain into the attack. Returning to their masters, the collected CNA was then transferred into a toxin that was released globally.
And it only effected humans.
The effect of the toxin started to take hold, and humans began to mutate into new cybertronians, hybrids of man and machine (But with no human features on show however, just new bodies entirely), with the intent of the third faction using them as an army, to destroy both Autobot and Decepticon a like, and then sell off their new elites for the highest bidder, and even use them theirselves to take over other planets.
Not everything went to plan.
Fear and Willpower are big motivators, and such massive quantities of these emotions caused overloads, short-circuiting control and leaving the new hybrids running around in fear, tearing apart buildings and cities. Seeing opportunities, both factions strike, the Decepticons to increase their army and find out how to make more like them, and the Autobots to cure and calm, possibly even gaining new recruits in the process.
And seeing their failure, the new third faction slipped into secrecy, swearing revenge, leaving the transformers and humans to clean up the mess.
This event would probably last a week or two, before the Malaids (Third faction, pronounced Ma-LA-ids) would pull out. During this time Autobots and Decepticons would have to fight the ones that are controlled by the third faction and recover those that broke the control programming. After the event said Hybrids that broke the control would still be around, giving something to do in between large battles and other events. Remember however, there are still humans in those that are controlled, so for Autobots would it be wise to use lethal force if you claim to save humans?
The Malaids wouldn't actually be very involved aside from a few OC's known as "Operators", which would be people who would try and reprogram a hybrid involved in a fight, but wouldn't appear much. Their ship would be orbiting Mars but have an enhanced form of the cloaking the Nemesis uses and wouldn't attack anything, deploying their Operators via drop pods. To become an operator you would first have to ask me and then make an app for them. I will be looking for about 5 operators, and you can have more than one.
There would not be many hybrids and perhaps a test would be in order for a city that exists or is to be made. The amount of hybrids in this area would be 200 and limited to roughly 2 operators. This would be to test the event and see if it should go through or not.
