Sitting at his console in the Command Center, Avernus reads over recently sent documents from High Command. The war had returned to Cybertron with the planet's revival, putting it at risk of dying a second time. The Aethos Relay was to be the staging ground for keeping Cybertron safe from the unending war created by the Autobots and Decepticons. The news was troubling, Cybertron had just recently started showing signs of being habitable again, and the war immediately returned home. Resting his helm against a servo, Avernus continued reading through the documents. Some being lifted territory maps acquired by Autotrooper and Vehicon double agents, and others being witness reports attempting to describe the threat level of the two main factions. One last document however caught Avernus' attention.
"Two warriors, Velocity and Kohllarion, are being transfered from Paragon's forces to your own to aid the war effort". If Avernu's had the ability to, he would be smiling right now. It had been far too long since he had fought alongside Kohllarion, and already he longed to unite with his old friend once more. Checking the overview map of the Relay, Avernus noted Gateway was closest to the Warp Bridge controls, moving through a corridor. Opening a comms channel, he gave an order to the tech specialist.
"Gateway, we have an incoming warp signal in 14 cycles, I want you to be ready to open the Warp Bridge when High Command hails!" Standing from his chair, Avernus began making his way towards the Warp Bridge chamber. Anticipation filled part of his frame, dread for the return of the war filled the rest. Whatever may come, he would fight to the end, as he had promised millenia ago.

The rage of war had died down in this sector of the galaxy long ago, most say that because fighting over a dead planet was a waste of time and resources. Others had a more moral perspective on the matter; was it correct to stage conflicts literally atop your own casualty? An innocent bystander, the entire planet, lost to a ceaseless battle, between sides that have more in common than they are apart. In all regards this war was disgusting. Primus truly deserved better than to be squandered by his own kin, for the Allspark to be snuffed in such a wanton manner. It made Gateway ill to ponder what this universe has come to, Autobots and Decepticons dragging their contention back to the barely recovered surface of home, as if they had learned nothing in all these megacycles.
Interrupting his train of thought came the booming voice of his overtly zealous commanding officer, stationing him to the warp bridge. Effective immediately, of course. It would have been a great deal of pleasure to have more forewarning for arrivals. Another comfort would have been knowing whom it was coming, but even if Avernus had disclosed that, Gate had no chance of knowing. Despite dedication, he was still rather new to this faction, and did not know many names, nor faceplates. Adapting was one of Gateway's reasons to be accepted into the Avacons, but it still was unpleasant to him to have to do at all. Paving himself a road without any bends always felt better, but war never allows such bold ideas for a life.
"Right on it, sir. I'll be certain to act promptly with their contact." Gate's words broke from his mind, expressing much more pleasantness than he currently felt, but Avernus was never one to ever sound frustrated around, let alone uncertain. Shifting to present over expressing, every servo in his frame put Gate in perfect posture as he almost goose stepped his way to the warp bridge hangar. Sitting gave some level of relaxation next to the terminals, but the officer did not let his joints loosen. There he remained, perfectly erect in his seat, awaiting further orders. Whatever was inbound, Gateway hoped it would make up for the damage the main factions would inevitably cause before any Avacons could intercept this war. What a dream that would be.

Stepping forth from the swirling red vortex of the warp bridge, a figure began to emerge. His footsteps were loud, so much so that they were somewhat audible over the booming hum of the warp bridge. The figure drew closer to Gateway, and it would quickly become apparent that whoever it was, was far larger than him. Still enshrouded by the crimson hue of the portal, the figure finally stepped out of the portal, their features now very clear to the Tech Specialist. Before him, stood Kohllarion, a battle-hardened veteran that had never strayed from the frontlines for long. His armour glimmered and glistened in the Warp Bridge's light, illuminating every inch of his form; which bore an angled aesthetic, but not so much that it was jagged, instead sitting somewhere between smooth and sharp. All of his bright yellow and black plates seemed to bare scarring and scratching in some way or another, and each one told the story of a battle. A victory. A loss. The loss of a mission. The loss of an objective. The loss of friends. His gait was slowly and steady, yet bold, but not so much so that it bore the tell-tale signs of overconfidence. Now standing only meters away from Gateway, Kohllarion stood almost twice the mech's size. With a slow bow, he gave the former Vehicon a show of his gratitude, before finally speaking.
"Thank you." Boomed the mech, his voice full of appreciation and vigour, with the latter almost portraying a sense of youth Kohllarion no longer had. His gaze sat upon Gateway's form, before drifting off across the room. Aethos Relay. He thought to himself. He hadn't been here in solar cycles. He hadn't been here since he had last seen Avernus. War had called them both to separate fronts, though Kohllarion had longed for this day for what seemed to be forever, and may in truth have been so, given his age. They were finally back together, and on the frontlines no less. Perhaps it was wrong for the mech to feel such glee at the prospect, given that their reunion had been provoked by the return of the war to Cybertron's surface, especially with the planet in such a vulnerable state. Regardless, such was a thought that Kohllarion dismissed, because one way or another, the Autobots and Decepticons wouldn't get a chance to kill their planet a second time. He would make sure of that.
Kohllarion supposed that proper protocol might have been to ask Gateway to usher him to the quarters of his commander, but he knew the way, and the path was still fresh in his mind. However, he knew that he couldn't set off, not just yet at least. He still had to wait for his partner to arrive.
