BASICS
Designation : Gateway
Nicknames: Gate
Gender : Mech
Faction : Avacon
Occupation : Engineering and technology specialist
Personality :
Endowed with a chance to actually live as an individual, Gateway takes comfort in a middle ground. As empowering as uniqueness is, it is frightening, and in some ways, not useful. Gate seeks to find himself, but he currently recedes into a vagueness to keep himself grounded. As it stands, only commanding officers of his own or those above them have ever seen his actual face he was granted when he enlisted with the Avacons. Aside from this desire for sense of self and fear, he is a clever, creative and passionate mech. He is very expressive and takes care to fine tune his skills to be useful to those that gave him a chance. He appreciates what they've done for him, and his gratitude shows often. He almost seems youthful in his naivety, despite the grueling punishment of war on a faceless grunt he once experienced. If anything, this energy and emotion is the only thing holding him back from higher positions in the ranks, as when he is grounded, Gateway is a natural for directing and guiding a fight.

Equipment and Abilities
Weaponry :
Twin AVC-99 Small Arms Missile Array : Missile arrays with needle like projectiles that have just enough explosive power to shred armor if a full payload of the entire array makes direct hits.
AVC-13 Concealed Blaster : A small and low power blaster that can be easily carried and hidden, difficult to pick up with lower end weapon detection systems.
EMP Mines : Proximity mines designed to release an electromagnetic pulse on detonation, frying more sensitive communications and systems, and shorting out more advanced ones for 2 posts. Blast radius of 20 ft.
Darkmount Taser Prod : Not the best weapon overall, but a stun from this can make a battle just a little easier. If he lands a direct hit, it can immobilize a small character for 1 post (motorcycles), but larger characters are just stiffened or jarred.
Gadgets :
GTW-5 Subspace Technical Handling Assist Module : A sturdy subspace pocket that can be attached or removed as necessary, specifically designed to be able to transform with Gateway, but technically anyone with connection and approval from Gateway or his superiors can use it. This pocket is currently full, and cannot be used to store any objects, as inside is a remotely controlled set of four sturdy tentacles, all of which are equipped with manual drives to connect to any computing device, precision lasers and powerful clamps. These tentacles are large enough to, with mild strain, support Gateway's entire weight, plus the device itself, using only 2 of them, the remaining 2 can be used otherwise. It is advisable to use 3 for supporting one's frame, though, especially if they weigh more than its standard user. As this gadget can be used remotely, it is not required to be wearing it to use it, however, it cannot be overridden if it is directly attached to a user, except by codes only known by Gateway and his superiors.
GTW-2 Autoturrets : Automated defense turrets that can be deployed as disks before unfolding into their offensive modes. They almost appear like round floor panels for electrical openings before deploying. They have the equivalent firepower of a single standard blaster each, and automated aim is fine tuned to seek out joints and other normally exposed places on targets. They can be directed to target specific enemies or objects by Gateway.
GTW-26 Link Drone : A small, automated drone with a radio connection to Gateway, for the use of connecting and overriding computing devices from afar, so Gate can wirelessly tap in.
Abilities :
Innate Wireless Link : At all times, Gateway, in a proximity approximately 30 ft around him, can attempt a loose connection to computing devices. This connection is generally considerably feeble, and is high risk for detection as he has no way to conceal himself if he attempts to link in. However, this, if successful, requires no physical input to function, and the only way to remove him is by forcing him out of the computer from within the system, or by significantly breaking his focus.
OTHER
History :
Gateway used to be a vehicon guard at the Darkmount prison. When the war had reached a severe point, Gateway was taken into an attack squadron. This group was very efficient, and they were given an extremely important task to disable Autobot defenses during an assault. The team was given an elite hacking specialist. As they approached the goal during the infiltration, the specialist was eliminated. The squad leader called an immediate retreat, but Gateway went to the console and set the defenses against the Autobots. The attack was successful, but Gateway was imprisoned for defying a direct order. Due to the nature of his crime, resulting in victory and proving worth as a real soldier, he wasn't immediately executed. That being said, with the possibility up in the air, he felt terribly endangered and mistreated as a sentient being. Thinking of this as an opportunity the Decepticons were well wasting, the Avacons broke him for his skills during a resource raid. On his way out of the prison he had guarded not too long ago, he grabbed a taser prod for both sentiment and use.
Now freed from the binds of the Decepticon forces, Gateway honed his skills and developed an array of tools and gadgetry for personal use, although most is used exclusively by himself.
Strengths :
- Gateway can gain complete control of a battlefield if the environment is computerized enough, the more defenses you have, the more he can turn against you.
- In hand to hand combat, his module can be a powerful weapon, pinning targets and battering them, and in tight spaces, he is fully capable of scaling walls and flinging himself about.
- He has a multitude of basic resistances, including magnetics, electricity and heat, to keep himself safe, including from his own tools.
Weaknesses :
- Gateway lacks raw power overall, as he doesn't have any necessarily potent abilities or weapons outside of very close range, which he actually tends to avoid.
- Gateway is made more vulnerable in less developed environments, forcing him to rely on his more direct methods of combat.
- Despite the measures to assure all of his connections are secure and he always is in control of everything he owns or takes over, he isn't perfect. A powerful override or strong enough EMP could almost completely disable him.
