SO! We're thinkin' of openin' shop. Virtually.
That's right. There's been an idea I've thrown at the other admins where people can accumulate points through bounties, log-in point collection, and selling of items to purchase things from ships to items. There would also be admin rewards for games or such that are won, which would be able to be sold as well.
There is more to it, but I'm too lazy to type it all out. So make your suggestions on this known, ask questions, and lets hash it out to try and bring about some more forum interaction.

I'm going to vote against it... mostly because it seems like the first step towards the equally dark paths of pay to win and Skinner box techniques. Personally I think points shouldn't be the reward for being on the site... STORY is the reward.
If your going to do a points system here is my suggestion:
1. Don't... Sell... Power... This is the worst move I see games do, it causes imbalances and a divide within the community
2. Make point rewards be new events... 10000 points = big story event (if you do this, make points a community pool )
3. Wait for everything to be finished first, let the community grow before you do this...
Well, that's my rant. Do what you all think is right for this community and history will judge... and thanks for listening!

I'm against and Not against. I'm for it if these a done.
1. EQUALITY. Nobody gets a head-start, nobody gets more points, not even Admins. Also, don't make unlocks rank specific.
2. Don't reward people for fights or give them a chance to get a head-start or ahead, this means don't give people more for selling items, unless they are player created via crafting system (See 3. and 4.)
3. Only sell ships. Other items such as weapons can be bad, as this would eliminate creativity, UNLESS there is a system in place to create items, however there would be a cap on that stats you could put in them, and said caps would only vary between item type (A ship can't have the same stats cap as a handheld gun) and not rank type, as not to eliminate equality. By a stats cap I mean total stat points you would have in total and not the limit on each stat, as this would make space for godmod weaponry or other items.
4. Relating to point 3. and point 2., a crafting system. Players can craft weapons via blueprints and items they've bought off of other players. The parts they need would be sold on the main store and specified by the blueprint's creator. In regards to making one's own blueprints they would need to buy a consumable item off of the store that allows them to make and sell the item. Submitting these items to the main marketplace would give the creator points, and they cannot gain points by selling to another player. The main marketplace would only give them points for each item submitted to it.

Ok, so I'm gonna put this here since people keep getting confused when they join in the conversation.
The points system is NOT for character creation. It's for new weapons, better ships, etc, AFTER character creation.

I'm okay with it to a point. I feel we are already changing too much. It feels like just because we switched sites, mean we had to change the story, the name, and now maybe key parts of how we do things.
On the other hand, I have always been more for a more organized approach to RPing, and felt it isn't always about the story, this is a competition. I believe looking back at the early threads there was more competition between the sides then there is today.
So that's just my two cents.
