OTHER
Personality :
Chiro is a field medic and a doctor, it's her job and who she is. She is usually straightforward about what she's thinking but can be a little sarcastic and snarky at times, particularly when irritated. She is also known for her occasional long winded lectures about regular maintenance and repairs, particularly when it's one of her regulars coming in for the exact same repairs as the previous seven times. However, when it comes to her work, she is honest and never "cuts corners". That is, unless she actually needs to cut a corner of armor for the repairs. To most, she's just another medic/scientist and she doesn't mind being treated as such. She rarely get's a "thank you" but it's her job and she does it well. She knows that she also has a bit of a mad scientist streak in her Spark. Ok, maybe a bit more than a touch. However, she does try to keep her "mad scientist" upgrades and experiments within logical grasp, reasoning, and morality.
She also tends to keep her past to herself. As such, very few know her whole story and she prefers to keep it that way. If she tells someone about her past beyond the time she's been with the Autobots, it's a sign of deep trust. (Also, PM me if you would like your character to have interacted with her before Earth or even before she joined the Autobots. They then might know something more about her already...)
Courage : 7
Charisma : 5
History :
Having been born from the Well of Allsparks, Chiro was designated a medic in the caste system and most of the patients she tended to were those who dealt with the more hazardous jobs on Cybertron. Beyond that, however, Chiro had dedicated her life to the research and improvement of Cybertronian Biotech. She was often found doing experiments in her personal lab during her spare time, which was located in the Manganese Mountains. Most of the experiments and projects ranged from various uses of Engeron to upgrading and augmenting the systems of other Cybertronians; who were willing participants to accept the consequences of the experimental upgrades of course. A few of her projects, however, she kept under wraps as her superiors would not approve of them. Additionally, some of her personal projects never resided in her lab.
Every once in a while, Chiro made her way to Kaon, more specifically, the Pits of Kaon. She was known to be one of the few "medics" of the Gladiators there. While most onlookers from the crowds wouldn't care if the victor died from their wounds after the battle, she saw it as a place to practice and experiment - under the radar. She knew many of those onlookers would likely disapprove of some of the "repairs" she had done on said Gladiators. To the occasional Cybertronian who did say something to her about it, she always flatly replied with a polite smile: "I'm a medic, a doctor. If I don’t practice with all kinds of damages and ailments, how will I get better at what I do? Besides, most of the Gladiators I work on would have died otherwise. What's so wrong about saving lives? Look at it this way, you get to see them fight at least one more time, right? So why do you care about what I do? You cheer at their deaths, don't you?" This reply was usually met with a silent pause of processing and then that Cybertronian walking away very quickly. While at Kaon, she went by the name of Doc. She knew better than to give her real name, just in case some of the by-the-book law-abiding Cybertronians were to pick up on her "work". And for those who gave her a funny look about her name, which there had been a few when she introduced herself, she simply replied: "I'm a doctor. That's my title, that's my name."
When the war started, Chiro did not immediately choose a side. She had plenty of experience learning from Shockwave and other, newly Decepticon, scientists and medics while working at the Pits in Kaon. She knew there was more to observe and learn from the experiments conducted by that group, but some of their methods, particularly Shockwave's, rubbed her Spark the wrong way. As for the other side, she enjoyed working alongside many of the medical officers in her daily job, who at that time joined the Autobots, but the environment felt too "by the book" and she felt that she would have to suppress her more creative, experimental side to be fully accepted. As such, she elected to stay neutral and permanently moved to her lab, helping all who came through her doors to the best of her ability and to the limit of her personal resources and expertise.
This went on for many, many years until Chiro met two unlikely friends.
The first was during one of her trips to Kaon for scraps and other supplies for makeshift repairs. Chiro came across a Mech who was put in the scrap heap, but clearly still functioning, well, as much as one could be when they were a conglomeration of different parts altogether. She hauled him back to her lab where she then set herself on a mission to get him back on his feet. Many cycles later she managed to get his basic communication systems functioning again. She then learned that he had no official designation, but was called O.M.E.G.A. and his current state was the remains of an experiment by the Decepticon scientists she sometimes worked with in Kaon. In exchange for helping him, he offered to guard her lab to the best of his ability as the battle front ebbed closer and closer as the cycles went by. Chiro continued to work on Omega's systems a little bit at a time in an attempt to reconcile the vastly different biotech that his body was made of. However, she feared that if she changed too much too quickly, his systems would go into shock and enter a stasis that would likely be indefinite given his condition.
The second was an Autobot recruit designated Tekna. A young and quick-witted Femme, Tekna admired Jazz to a fault, but Chiro suspected this was likely due to the fact that she shared some of the musical Autobot's quirks. Tekna stumbled across Chiro's lab on a scouting mission not long after Chiro had taken Omega in. For some reason that Chiro would never understand, the young Femme stopped by her lab on countless occasions afterward. Even if there was no medical, scientific, or military reason for Tekna to be there, she would come by just to "hang out" during her free time. The bantering and bickering of Tekna and Omega would then ensue, giving Chiro the biggest processor-ache as sometimes actual fights started and equipment would be destroyed. However, over time Chiro realized that she enjoyed hearing the noise of the two younger Cybertronians echo through her otherwise silent lab.
Chiro herself isn't sure when exactly she finally made the choice to go fully to the Autobot's side. But she knew between the influence of the young Autobot Tekna and the visible disregard for Cybertronian life that Omega represented from the Decepticon side, her Spark lay with the Autobots. She noted that more Autobots and fewer Decepticons came by for repairs and upgrades as the cycles passed and push came to shove when the Autobot regulars started asking her to join. Next thing she knew, she was out on the field with Tekna and Omega, assisting in both recon and on the frontlines as a field medic. She eventually moved her lab to a location much closer to Iacon as the war raged on and the battles grew more intense around where she lived. At which point she worked exclusively with the Autobots, cementing her alliance with them.
Chiro's journey to Earth started with the evacuation. Cybertron was corrupted, falling into a deep slumber to heal. The Arc was built to hold as many as Autobots as possible and other, smaller ships were built or found in the scramble to escape. Chiro make it to the Arc in time before it launched, but as she looked around for her two dear friends, they were no where to be found. They had planned to meet at the Arc with plenty of time before launch so where were they? She attempted to send a message via the comms, but all she got was static. She figured that the energy fluxuations from the massive ship nearby was messing with her comms so she headed off to find them. She raced to the common locations that they could normally be found at, but she didn't find them anywhere. Hoping that she just missed them and that they'd be on their way to the Arc, she headed back and made it just before the Arc launched. She climbed aboard, hoping and praying to Primus that they were there among the crew. But as the ship launched, they were nowhere to be found. She asked around, but no one had seen either Tekna or Omega since earlier that morning.
To this day, Chiro is unsure of their status, if they managed to find safety somewhere or if they were killed during the Decepticon attack that day.
Shortly after the Arc arrived to Earth, Chiro took on a personal, non-combative, scouting mission to find new supplies for the medbay and to find an Earth-based alternate mode to her liking. So far, she had remained in the medbay to be on-call for repairs, but curiosity about the humans she had heard about got the better of her. In the dead of night, she groundbridged just outside of London, England. Fascinated by the little carbon-based creatures, she intently watched and listened to the chatter as they passed by unaware of the audio receptors listening in to their conversations. She continuously was pulling up files from their worldwide database they called the internet to gain a better reference of the subjects they were talking about. Unfortuneately, she became so absorbed in her research that she didn't notice the squad of Vehicons that approached from behind. They jumped her and in the short scuffle, they managed to damage and disable her comms and a few other, non-critical systems. Outnumbered, clearly outgunned, and now unable to call for backup or a groundbridge, she ran, transforming into her Cybertronian alt form, and got away as fast as she could. She eventually came across one of the human "hospitals" where she scanned an "ambulance" that caught her optic and took it as her new alt form. She then hid among the crowd of emergency response vehicles, going into an extended sleep cycle to conserve energy, shield her vital signs, and allow her inner repair mechanisms to do their work.
When Chiro awoke, she found she had been unceremoniously drafted into the work of the human "EMTs". She went along for the ride to keep her cover from the unaware humans, but attempted to scan the Autobot channels for any news about the others, despite her damaged comms. It was patchy, but what she was able to make out shocked her. Optimus and Megatron both were gone, Decepticon activity had died down significantly, and there was a new Autobot chain-of-command setup on Earth. Unable to feasibly send out a transmission to give her status and unable to reliably break away from her human companions without raising suspicion, Chiro resigned herself to her new lifestyle. After a while, she realized that it wasn't that bad of an idea. She could effectively retire from the war and was still able to aid those who were injured, they just happen to be human instead of Cybertronian. Chiro lived this way for five years or so in the human city of London, all the while observing and learning about the humans, especially those who often accompanied her.
About three months ago, Chiro was retired from the emergency response service as a new round of vehicles were ordered for the unit she was a part of. As part of the retirement, some vehicles were sold off while others were parked in a lot on the outskirts of the city, for backup use. She was part of the backup group, however no one really came by and checked up on the vehicles, and after some time, she realized they were effectively just abandoned there. She used this newfound alone time to slowly patch-up the remaining damage that her internal repair mechanisms couldn't take care of, more out of boredom than a necessity.
Recently, Chiro's been going out and driving around London casually, with a hologram driver in place, scanning the Autobot channels with a roughly-patched comms system (due to the lack of the sophisticated equipment necessary for a full repair) in case her skills were needed once again. Otherwise, she was content in exploring the city and eventually making her way out into the greater part of the country and continent.
Family :
Tekna - close friend - status unknown
O.M.E.G.A. - close friend - status unknown
Caase - Artificial Son - Deceased
Scaag (Base personality code formerly known as Caase) - Adopted Son - Alive
Stormcutter - Adopted Son - Alive
Panacea - Adopted Daughter - Alive but estranged
Strengths :
- Chiro can McGuyver something up if she doesn't have everything she needs for a repair.
- She can concentrate on repairing a 'bot, even if there's a lot of background noise.
- She has had a lot of experience (almost 70, 000,000 years worth) repairing a wide variety of injuries on all kinds of Cybertronians.
- She is able to use her medical experience to come up with viable experiments for Energon and biotech upgrades.
Weaknesses :
- Chiro rarely relaxes and will sometimes work herself into stasis.
- If she gets caught up in something that wholly captures her interest, she will lose track of time and inadvertently disregard all other duties.
- Since she works in the medbay and her lab so much, her social skills are often found to be lacking.
- Her past haunts her in quiet moments, which is why she is constantly pouring herself into work.

Chiro cruised the streets of London, though it wasn't a leisurely cruise. It was the early morning and her two passengers, the EMTs John and Jessie, were on their way to the grocery store. It was their turn to restock the station's pantry. Thus, Chiro listened to them while watching the streets. She let the humans drive for the most part, but she always took over when something was going on. This often led to interesting situations.
John yawned. "Why do we have to do this so early in the morning…?" he asked his twin.
Jessie rolled her eyes. "I told you two days ago when we talked about it: this is the only time we have to get this done today." She chided lightly. She was at the wheel currently, though half the time she felt like she wasn't the one driving.
John waved a hand passively. "Yeah, I know. Doesn't make waking up so early any less painful." He yawned again as they turned onto the next street.
Jessie shook her head. "Well, if we get done quickly you can- AAAAAH!" Jessie screamed as an out of control car came barreling down the street in their direction.
Jessie slammed on the breaks and tried to steer out of the way. However, Chiro sprang into action and quickly weaved around the nearby stopping traffic and reached a safe spot to stop. Seconds later, the out of control car raced by their section of stopped traffic before it slammed into a pole. The two EMTs sat there for a moment in shock as their brains processed what just happened.
Jessie recovered first. "How did we get over here?" She noted that the way she had reacted would not have led them to where they currently sat.
John blinked a few times in confusion but then he couldn't help but smile. "If you didn't do it, I'm guessing it's our friendly ghost, again. That's at least the third time we owe him or her our lives."
Jessie watched as people began checking on each other in the variety of accidents that happened in the area. "Well, we better go save some lives ourselves!" Jessie said as she unhooked her seatbelt and climbed out of Chiro. John called dispatch and explained the situation quickly. He then followed Jessie's lead as they went to go take care of anyone who was injured in the incident until the rest of the unit arrived.
Chiro sat there silently, watching the scene unfold. She hated not being able to help her human companions in their work directly, but if she could keep them safe, that was enough for her.
