I've recently decided to repaint some of my TF figures into their Shattered Glass counterparts when I realized I know next to nothing about it.
So if anyone has any tips and tricks about customizing Transformers figures they would like to share, I would be very grateful.

As a model kit builder I recommend that you practice on a cheap figure. Painting a Transformer is probably more difficult than model kits as you'll probably need to disassemble the figure in order to fill in the sculpted details. You'll probably need a set of brushes for the fine details. I'd also recommend learning how to use masking tape. With model kits, it's important to thin your paints but I'm sure the same principle applies here. Otherwise, the paintjob might come out with "chunks" on the surface.

What about removing paint that's already on the figure? Any tips there?

Some parts are already molded with a specific plastic color. From what I've heard Ispropyl Alcohol will help remove the factory applied paint apps.

I have done quite a few customs (TF Cagle customs and reviews) and I find best instead of removing paints, put a flat black base coat with a krylon flat black (just make sure you move the joints around, and spray evenly.) I don't have any tutorials up on my channel, so if you want some tips, Youtube search Solrac333, he's a good customizer, and he has some really good tips. In fact, that's where I learned to do mine.
