Working with the melee attack rather than attempting to resist it, Shadow-Strike found himself tilting forward quickly sending himself into a forward roll out of danger. The sudden movement in addition to putting him out of range for the follow up strike also lowered him to one knee, before he himself lashed out in return. With his left thermo-energon blade still deployed Shadow-Strike spun around, his entire body pivoting as he tried to cleave the mech through his waist-line. It was a simple strike but with the momentum and thermo-energon a clean strike would undoubtedly leave two clean pieces of the Autobot lying on the battle ground.
For a mech like Shadow-Strike who was accessing all his opponents moves, he allowed himself a gentle smile at his opponents tactical decision. Due to his own personal history he'd researched all the current wreckers with great interest, still it was always interesting to see their reactions in person. At least he knew the wrecker he was currently facing didn't have much interest in being the selfless hero, although he did find himself wondering how long that would last. He was also admittedly curious about the fact the mech fighting him appeared to be a conversationalist, unusual considering Shadow-Strike couldn't remember the last time he'd openly spoke to an Autobot on the battlefield since this one.
With a deeper hum now originating from his frame the mech fired off another shot from his pathblaster at the dazed femme currently trying to rise up. He was also currently trying to assess who would be more worthwhile if he was forced to pull out even a single of his trump cards. At this rate he was considering the femme, as although it would be more advantageous to take out the new combatant he was aware the mech and him shared near identical reflexes that may allow the mech to somewhat dodge such an attack if he gave a clear warning... it would be near-impossible to survive without it hitting anything important at this range. Near impossible, not utterly impossible.

Wildfire collapsed to the ground once more, she slammed a servo into the ground, trying to muster all the strength she had to get up. She was battered and bruised. She flexes her wings, trying to feel if she could fly, she knew when she was beat and now was the time to escape... but she knew she couldn't leave Whirl behind.
The femme looks towards the two combatants, her servo gripping onto her gauss bolter, picking the right moment to fire at the Decepticon.

Whirl infinitely preferred close-up combat to long-range combat - well, both were great but yeah, if he had to choose... and he caught the blade in one claw, pushing it up and away. It would have agonised somebody who wasn't almost entirely numb to feeling in both hands.
As for 'selfless hero', well that was completely subjective. It had simply been discovered the hard way that if Whirl was in a position to kill you, he would do so without asking twice.
Even as he pulled out his Gatling Gun, he brought up a leg - or a knee, more like it; the angular Whirl seemed to be built entirely out of knees and elbows - and activated the paralyzo-box. If it made contact, Shadowstrike would be temporarily paralyzed. And since it was very useful for ending fights, there was no certainty that Shadowstrike would know about it.
Even so, he was juggling his options. Finish off the 'con, or air-lift the femme out of here and get to a position where he could safely summon a ground-bridge? It felt a lot like retreating.

Watching as his blade was caught Shadow-Strike knew he had little time to react to the coming counterattack. As such the moment he saw the claw clamp down he began to pull back, his blade depositing additional thermo-energon as he forced it out of the claws grip. If the other mech was intelligent he would have let go instantly upon the thermo-energon blade being superheated by additional fluid, if he didn't let go the only reason Shadow-Strike's weapon would currently be free was the fact the mech would no longer have a claw attached to that wrist. Stepping back Shadow-Strike's body twisted around the knee strike as his combat sensor's warned him of the attached paralyzo-box. He was more than aware in a battle of agility how important being free to move would be.
While he was dodging the potentially immobilizing strike Shadow-Strike also caught sight of Wildfire who was still trying to rise to the best of her abilities. He knew by now that she would either retreat removing herself as a potential casualty and hostage, or join the battle to assist her team mate. Neither where entirely favourable as his pathblaster went through the reloading process he continued to hear the reassuring hum from his frame. He still had a few tricks up his sleeve.
With his main focus on Whirl, Shadow-Strike swung his blade attempting to behead the mech or otherwise distract him. All the while his other weapon raised to fire off a chain of twelve rounds (an entire clip worth) towards the femme, with a overwhelming majority of them heading straight for the femme's wings. After the shots where fired Shadow-Strike's pathblaster flipped allowing his servo and other blade to deploy before he proceeded into the melee again.
His first attack of a flurry being a gauntlet launched goo that fired from an induction port on his left servo, the goo in mention being jet black and although it had no damaging effects the projectile was intended to thoroughly stick to anything of importance. As such it was headed straight for the mech's central optic. Almost directly afterwards his right blade followed up with a crescent moon strike that went from his own upper left to bottom left, the strike possessing the malice to attempt to both rip through the wrecker's vocal chords before cutting through his arm joint and finally into his waist.

Wildfire points the bolter at Shadowstrike, taking aim at the mech's arms. She had to hold it with both servos, her arm was shaking.
Her digit pressed down firmly on the trigger sending multiple rounds towards Shadowstrike, when she emptied the clip at Shadowstrike she readied another clip whilst looking for her blades.

Whirl made up his mind. He could kick Shadowstrike's plates eight ways from Iacon, but the mech kept throwing side-shots at the femme, who was in less of a condition to defend herself, or if he went down - big if, but he had to consider it - defend them. Or seeing the state of her wings, retreat herself.
Besides, she was a fellow Wrecker.
There was no way he could dodge all of Shadowstrike's attacks, so from his training he took the less damaging of them. If he lost his vision he was dead anyway, and he stalled all attacks for a moment to shield his hated optic with an arm, leaving it splattered with the black stuff. His cockpit shattered from the blade's swing and there was a slicing pain in his side - shallow, but damage nonetheless. He'd have to think about that later.
Without waiting for the follow-up, he spun around, slamming one angular pede high into Shadowstrike's jaw hard.
"We're gonna hafta put a raincheck on this fight, Darkie," he told the 'con, and ran towards Wildfire, scooping her up into long arms, "Lady, you wanna get out of here?" he didn't wait for the answer, still running, "Put your hands and feet here and here," he positioned them for her on his skids, still running, "And don't let go."

OOC: For anyone curious the Nucelon Charge Rifle has been charging for 16 posts in total (Shadow,Wild, Whirl), as far as I've been bothered to trace back.
Trying to manoeuvre around two competent combatants working together Shadow-Strike found the side on view that Wildfire possessed allowed the femme to gain a few easy shots without risking her teammate. It was with this distraction that after his own strike Shadow-Strike was forced to follow up the movement of both blades into cutting swipes that where unreasonably fast, each movement swiftly dissecting a bolter round with unnerving precision that could be considered simply unnatural. It was however with his attention now focused on the femme that the Wrecker Whirl was able to take advantage.
A single angular pede connecting straight off his jaw being a relevant punishment as he stumbled back, only his natural grace allowing him not to fall utterly boneless to the ground as a new dent was formed. Unable to react after the strike Shadow-Strike found himself lucky the other mech was resorting to saving his teammate as he fell to one knee. The 'injured' position allowing the mech's backplating to pop out before deploying his Nucelon Charge Rifle which rose out of his internal compartments to land firmly against his right shoulder in a firing position.
Fully charged (Over actually) the weapon's barrel short moment out in the open was causing the snow to instantly dissipate due to the insane heat that was generated. With 2 million degrees C of heat generated the bullet that was fired from the chamber near instantaneously disintegrated, the bullet itself only forming a near perfectly shaped energy round that burned a hellfire red. It was with such power behind the shot that it was shame the beautifully sinister round wouldn't be given long to burn as it headed towards it's target in a flash before breaking the speed of light. With a smirk across his face the mech looked down his crosshairs expecting to see that the bullet connect with the centre mass of the overlapping Autobots.
He was well aware his sniper rifle was more than a little overkill considering without proper shielding it could have easily put a pinpoint hole through numerous layers of the nemesis. Not to suggest he had tested such a theory.

The round met with Wildfire's back, piercing through and back out, the femme felt her entire body seize up. Her whole body felt like it was burning up, then suddenly it felt extremely cold. She felt a small trickle run down her back.
I... can't... feel my wings... I can't feel anything. The femme gasped.

"Looks like we have a lot in common then," Whirl told her. The shot had seared through his frame too, and passed right out again. He'd been expecting shots to the back, but not something that burned like this. It cauterised as it passed through him, and though he would lose little Energon, frag but he was going to have to acknowledge a lot of pain later.
Well then, it's a fragging good thing you're good at dealing with pain, huh?
Even so, if he hadn't had his fellow Wrecker as an incentive to keep moving, he might have collapsed, or been frozen in place by the shock. Frikkin' 'con... he wouldn't be caught short by that weapon again.
Come on, this is Scotland, there's gotta be an unforgiving cliff-edge around here somewhere...
He kept running, practically thanking Primus as he spotted one. He just hoped it would be high enough.
"Now I warn ya, it's a while since I pulled this trick, so we may well both be killed," he told Wildfire. Then he jumped, transforming on his way down, important parts passing remarkably close all around her.

Seeing the results of his strike Shadow-Strike could see he'd at least hit something important if the currently struggling bots actions where any sign. Still they weren't dead, a problem he intended to rectify as the mech began to pack up his weapon aware a follow up shot at this charge level would be detrimental to the weapons existence. Popping out a heat clip filled with the charged heat Shadow-Strike discarded it quickly, the small container instantly creating a hole in the terrain as it melted into the earth. After that the barrel of the weapon was removed and then replaced by an exact replica before the frame of the weapon lowered back into it's internal housing, followed shortly by his own backplating.
While not a hugely time taking venture it had allowed the two to begin there escape. With that in mind and unhindered Shadow-Strike leaped forward. His body already shifting mid-air while he transformed only to land tyre's screaming as he accelerated in his Dodge Challenger mode towards the two wreckers. Taking advantage of the speed boost his alternative mode provided against hindered walkers Shadow-Strike was forced to watch Whirl jump off a clip with Wildfire in his arms.
Unwilling to allow his quarrel to leave the mech himself accelerated off the cliff and reverted to his robot mode, with both servo's aimed towards his targets. Two grappling hooks attached to his already mentioned fibre-corp launchers firing straight towards them before he retracted them both, in turn causing himself to be dragged towards the two other cybertronians with his pede's raised for an extended pede thrust to the chest of Wildfire then Whirl by extent.

Honestly I don't care what happens next, he's hellbent on ending us right here right now.
Wildfire looks up.
Behind you!
The femme aimed her bolter at Shadowstrike, trying to take him out before he made contact with them.

"Don't let go," Whirl repeated to Wildfire, his scratchy, high voice speaking with unusual determination.
She was still on the outside of Whirl; the difference now being that he was in alt mode, and she was holding on to his skids. He had managed to transform without breaking her in half at the same time.
It was called 'Drop Switching' and it was something every flier learnt - transforming in freefall. Both jets and rotaries could pull it. The better you were, the less the height you needed, the closer you could come to the ground. It wasn't safe to be done with somebody else hanging on, but safety had never been a major concern whenever Whirl had showed off in the past.
Wildfire's wings actually brushed against the dirt.
However, Shadowstrike had grappled onto somebody holding onto a helicopter, which despite his added weight, was still arial and now dragging him over the ground, treating him to numerous painful collisions.
"I'm not keen on hangers-on!" he shouted down at Shadowstrike, dragging the mech through a small lake and then into a narrow valley, where there were about a million things for the 'con to collide with on the ground, including rocks, trees, and the latrine of a small camping site that they passed through rapidly.

Watching the fibre-corp connect Shadow-Strike's launcher's began to reposition themself's gradually moving up his arms till they where at shoulder height. Allowing the mech to use both blades to defend himself as a variety of obstacles where sliced and diced through. While this was occurring Shadow-Strike continued to ensure he was keeping up with the two as they stayed within range of his jammer. In addition his frame's internal systems where also preparing to generate a rather large electrical pulse through the wires that connected him to his targets.

I'm trying the emergency frequencies, anything I have that's not shorted out. Look there's one person who can help us now its my dad. Its going to take him some time to get here though.
The femme wasn't afraid of flying or freefalling, however since her flight abilities were taken out it did make her feel a little sick inside.
He really isn't going to let go.
The femme reached out for a cable, she began to superheat her servos, using her fire powers to make the cables more malleable.

"There's one person who can help you now, and it's you!" Whirl yelled at Wildfire.
Whirl could see the charge building. He spotted a suitable narrow gap between two pillars of rock and headed just over it. Shadowstrike, being on the ground, was wedged between them, and the cables pulled tight, with both straining to keep a hold on Wildfire.
"Now cut the cables!" he shouted at Wildfire, and before she could speak or act, screamed even louder, "I SAID CUT THEM NOW, SOLDIER!!!"

Wildfire let out a stream of fire at the cables, then with a precise cut she cut the lines with her hunting blades.
We're free!

The cables twang free, and Whirl is free to rise up out of the narrow valley without the added weight of Shadowstrike, whom they leave behind. That was unpleasantly close. So close, that Whirl is aware the next time he and the 'con meet, it will be even closer.
He flies up to the top of the cliff and away with Wildfire, avoiding roads so that even after he gets out of those rocks, Shadowstrike can't follow in alt mode; he's no off-roader. Finally, Whirl hovers a few feet from the ground and transforms, landing lightly on his pedes with Wildfire in his arms again. He lays her down on the ground carefully and tilts his head.
"It's Wildfire, ain't it?" he studies her injuries with his single glowing optic, "Ya weren't really waitin' for daddy to save ya, were ya?" he asks, face perfectly blank.

Wildfire groans, pulling her back off the floor, sitting upright against a rock. she was holding a servo over the exit wound in her midrift, her flight mechanisms were broken.
Yeah, it is, if it wasn't for you... I probably would have died to the hands of that decepticon. I've never battled someone that capable, its like he's studied my moves... feels like it.
She hangs her head a little.
My dad would have come, He's Gearchange, no wrecker left behind he'd always say. I try and stick to that motto.

"Oh, Gears is your dad? Yeah, he'd have come," Whirl concedes, "But that's no reason to wait for 'im. Besides, he wouldn't have much to do, asides from internin' you in the family vault and meltin' me to ammo. I'm gonna hafta put that 'con down properly one 'a these days."
He looks at Wildfire's injuries. He's not a proper doctor, but he knows all about mechanisms and injuries. And he's had millions of years to teach himself to use his claws well. He crouches and studies the hole. It's almost identical to his own, seeing as they were hit by the same weapon. It could have been a whole lot more deadly, it's mostly thanks to Shadowstrike showing off with his 'twofer' that it's done only moderate damage.
"And hey, don't thank me for savin' your life. Ya only oughta be grateful if I had a choice," he tilts his yellow optic at Wildfire, indicating genuine befuddlement, "Why wouldn't I?"

Because no wrecker leaves a good bot for dead.
Wildfire looks back down, pulling herself up.
We should get back to the base, no use staying out here anymore.
