This post is something that people can use if they feel like they might need a little bit of inspiration. The following list will be as the title has laid out: a general plot list of basic, easy-to-expand on plots that anyone can change, add to, or alter to suit the needs for whatever plots they might be interested in proposing to the rest of the site. Moreover, this post is for my personal use, as I sometimes lack the inspiration needed to come up with a truly original plot that still conforms to normal standards that are generally well received by the RP community.
There is no need to be cautious about how you use these suggestions or ideas. If you want to use an idea that sounds appealing to you, by all means do so- no permission or credit is needed to be given, and I won't bother with the pointless task of trying to keep tabs on the plots that might be inspired from this post. This is merely a master list for the community's needs, therefore, use whatever you need, however you need it. Also don't feel bad if you directly quote from this post; again, no permission needed, no credit needed. Use everything however you like! Let the plotting begin.
If you have any comments, questions, or concerns regarding this 'self help' article, please don't hesitate to voice your opinion. New plots will be added as they are identified and brought to my attention. If you have a plot you think belongs on this list, don't hold back from mentioning it.
Swarms {::
This is one of the most common plots to use in a series. Whether it's the scraplets of TF Prime, the Terrorcons in TF Energon, or even the Scrapmetal race in TF Cybertron, swarms are commonplace, and entirely acceptable given the proper permission and agreement of admins and mods within RP. Whether it's a slightly larger, more powerful, but less numerous race (see the examples listed above: Scrapmetal (race) and the Terrorcons), or a massive swarm of tiny, irritating virmin (see the example listed above: scraplets), swarms can be fun, exciting, but also nerve-wracking. Bots- both OC and canon- are sure to be fragged up by the end of this event.
Artifacts of Power {::
Please take caution if you plan to use this plot idea, as many forms of powerful artifacts are banned from use on the Transformers Galaxy forums. If executed properly, however, this can be a fun, exciting RP just like the swarms are. Much of the Transformers series' many plots revolve around attaining artifacts of immense and mystical power. Again, though- caution is advised. If not careful, those who use this plot idea can create dangerously overpowered relics that have no place in more balanced, fair RPing; it is advised to all that this remain as a well-thought out plot that should only be done on very rare occasions, and of course, as always, with full administrator and moderator approval.
(The Artifacts of the Thirteen are banned from use on the TFG forums. Do not include them in your plotting.)
The Damsel In Distress {::
Already commonly used on the TFG forums, the damsel in distress is almost entirely self explanatory. It involves a bot (sorry mechs, but this plot applies to you, too) getting captured, and then having to be rescued. There are many different variations of this plot idea, however, and there's no shortage for opportunities to be original; Autobot, Decepticons, and other factions can be involved. Perhaps 'rescue' doesn't imply what you might think it does- will the 'damsel's' rescue actually be execution? While seeming cliche on the outset, this plot can be redone in a number of entertaining ways that appeal to a large audience that includes any number of RPers here on the forums. As a side note, this is also one of the very few plot ideas that doesn't necessarily need admin or mod approval to be carried out.
(Disclaimer: admin and mod approval is needed if the rescue involves any large-scale invasion of a prominent location, such as a well guarded prison or a hidden base that no one is supposed to know about.)
Space Debris {::
Another common plot used in the Transformers series, space debris often falls from the sky. It might come in the form of a fallen ship, an escape pod, or perhaps a new threat that's come to destroy us all such as a plague hidden within an asteroid, or some kind of metal-eating virus. The possibilities for space debris are endless, and I could not even begin to attempt listing every singular instance of how this plot could be handled by others. Depending on the size and nature of the space debris, you might need admin and mod approval, or you might not. This event also doesn't take very many people to be exhilarating; one or two could easily make this out to be an interesting plot.
New Energon/Power Source {::
Please note that this plot is in no way acceptable unless permission is expressly given by the admins and mods. While new energon and power sources can be fun to put together, exploring the implications of their use on the forums, it can also be very risky, and have a large impact on events in the RP. When approved and appropriately applied to RP, however, these can be some of the most well-liked RP events there are.
(Dark Energon, Tox-En, and Synth-En are banned from use on the TFG forums. Do not include these in your plots.)
Recovery RPs {::
Much like falling space debris, this plot idea can vary greatly- the possibilities for recovery RPs are endless. From a simple repair job on damaged equipment to the full restoration of a fallen ship, lost to the tides of time, recovery RPs can be spun in intricately unique, different ways that set them apart from all recovery RPs before them. Most forms of recovery RPs take a lot of technical speak, or else they end up short, and unfortunately, somewhat dull. These can be carried out in the aftermath of a major battle, or after a simple fight between two arch enemies, or for the repairs of bots after they've returned from a devastating loss.
