Due to a bit of feedback we have received, and based on our own experiences, we ahve now decided to implement a change to the classic combat system which we hope will increase fluidity and the fun while also keeping the combat feeling real and require some thinking. So, what is this new change? It is that from now, you can only make one combat move per post. This is also due to people in the past writing long essays where they move from place to place without allowing themselves any risk to get hit, and when posts got interrrupted midpost because characters react to things differently than planned. So, what exactly classifies as a combat action? It can be anything from shooting your gun, to activating an ability to taking cover or repairing something. This will require users to think about what they want to do, as they can't do too many things at once. This only applies to combat, casual interactions between people is NOT affected by this change.
However, there are exceptions. As an example, if it is a private RP set up when everyone is in on it, this rule can be ignored. However we ask that you notify us if that is the case, so we know not to mistakenly act upon it. And you can also incorporate counters in your posts, as they aren't classed as combat moves, but as a reaction. An example of this being: Skyspray raised his shield to block the swing, taking the hit with a grunt. He then raised his club, swinging it back towards his attacker. Where he is raising his shield, there's the reaction and swinging the club is the action. This also ties in with dialouge in a way, as often times the dialouge comes between things happening, and the other person should in turn react to the answer before continuing to speak, if the two lines aren't connected in any way. We understand that this can make a lot of posts shorter than they were before, but it is something we will have to face. And I know, you can make a good post with a lot of descriptive writing, even if you can't do a lot of actions in one go.
We hope that this change may be a positive one for the contnued development, and we will moderate and make sure that the rule is followed. We understand if it takes some time to settle in, but it is important that yuo try and do it as quickly as possible.
