For all canon characters a three strike system will be put into effect, non-retroactively to give all a fair chance under the new system (excluding those who have already had their canon characters revoked). This will involve a three-part canon roll-call system. Each roll-call may be issued NO SOONER than one week since the previous roll-call for a character or post by the character in question. This is to allow a buffer for the RPer should a real life event occur that prevents then from posting at all. Special cases will be considered separately, on approval of the Staff. (ex: loss of access to account due to system glitches, medical emergencies, etc.)
1. If a user feels a cannon character is not active enough to the point of impeding the flow of RP, he/she may request a staff member to do an individual roll-call for that cannon character. They must provide a legitimate reason along with proof. Saying "I think I can play the character better" is NOT a legitimate reason for a roll-call. A legitimate reason would be stating that someone has not been online and actively PRing while providing the date and location of the last post the RPer made as the canon character for proof. Legitimate requests will be considered, but may be denied.
2. If a canon character has not been requested for a roll-call via the first method , an "automatic" roll-call will be performed if the RPer of the canon character has not been online in the past two weeks.
3. If the RPer of a canon character knows that they will be inactive for some length of time, they must make a post on the "Leave of Absence" board with the expected time of absence written clearly. Generalizations (ex: "I'll be gone for a while.") will NOT be counted. Posting their time of leave will put their account on "hold" with regards to roll-calls until the expected time of return.
If the Rper does not answer a roll-call that is either requested or "automatic" within the time frame provided in the roll-call post, they will receive a "strike". After three strikes total, their permission to play any canon characters is revoked and their canon characters will be made available to all. However, they may be able to play a character again if and only if the following are met:
1. No one has requested permission to RP the canon character they want.
2. The RPer has proven to be consistently active via RPing OCs, being present and active in the chatbox or active in discussions on the forums for at least one month.
3. After the one month mark, they have PMed a staff member requesting permission to RP the canon character again. NOTE: We ask that you PM Skyspray as he is the Admin of character applications.
Reapplying for a canon character is subject to staff approval, as with all character applications.
A "recovery period" will come into effect for any RPer that has at least one strike and has posted for their canon character. This recovery period is a span of two months of solid RP and at the end of the two months, one strike will be removed. This is to allow a buffer for RPers who may experience a severe real life event that forces them to acquire a strike or two. Additionally, since strikes are in total, this is to prevent the strike system from coming back to bite someone. For example: Someone accumulated two strikes, then they had been RPing for a solid year or more, and then they slip up and receive a third strike, thus having their canon character revoked when they had been consistent for a decent length of time. With the recovery period, the first two strikes would have been removed after four months of solid RP, thus preventing this example situation.
Note: When requesting permission to RP a canon character that has been RPed before by someone else, you cannot simply copy the previous version or bring into question the past portrayal. Your version of the character WILL be different by virtue of being having a different RPer. This is not the case for those reapplying to play a character that had been revoked from them.
