Sparkflare was the last to enter the engineering lab as he shut the door behind him and checked if it was actually closed. The mech walked in further as he payed attention to where he walked, making sure he didn't stand on anything as he found somewhere to stand.
"Right where was I? Empress being innocent."
Sparkflare said as he grabbed a few pieces of scrap metal and started to mess around with the pieces. How his servos moved around the pieces, it looked like he was crafting something.
As Sparkflare did this, his visor deployed over his optics for Sparkflare to read out what he covertly put down.
"So I've talking to Empress in her cell when she woke up. I asked her why she killed Smokejaw and she said she had orders and wanted to learn. One panic attack later I asked what she wanted to learn and she replied with medical knowledge. You guys following all this?"

The Pet slowly trotted into the lab, slightly tired from chasing around her master's scent. She was happy, about to greet her master with a yap when she smelled something else. The creature known as Nitrobite. A guttural growl came, as the Pet bares her teeth, a warning to not encroach upon her territory.

Bruiser chuckled a bit as Skyspray responded. Then as Sparkflare entered and spoke, Bruiser thought for a few moments and then responded.
"I follow, but it still doesn't make sense that she was looking for knowledge and yet kill the person you try to gain the knowledge from. Unless you didn't like the answer."

Watching the small creature run around in the room was rather entertaining. Typical animal behavior from what he had heard. There hadn't really been any animals around him except for The Pet, and she was more the killy type. Not that it was anything wrong with that, just that these two animals behaved differently. Sparkflare then shut the door, right after The Pet herself trotted in. There was no risk of the information spreading, Pet was unquestionably loyal to Sky. At least he hoped so. The scout began talking and while he did that, Sky crouched down and scratched Pet, showing affection.
Hi Pet. You don't have to threaten Nitrobite, I'm right here. Oh and guess what I brought you... here's your reward for being a good turbofox.
He pulled out a part of Rift's dead body, namely an internal organ which he had found in the caverns, from his subspace and lowered his servo so that she could grab it and eat it if she wanted. Then it was time to reply to the two others.
She had orders and wanted to learn medical knowledge. And what better way to learn anatomy than to kill someone before tearing them open. From what I could see, Smokenaw wasn't killed because of interests to learn anything. Unless that junkion patched him up really well. What I think, this is just a theory, is that either Smokejaw knew something about this "Shadowplay" and needed to be taken care of, or he simply wasn't intended to die, not the primary target. Did we ever get an autopsy on how he died exactly?

"Did.... You just...."
Sparkflare was a little surprised that Skyspray had an organ on him that he had just fed to the pet. Sparkflare shrugged the thought off. He looked at Bruiser and smirked. What Sparkflare was about to say was the big reveal.
"Now here's the thing that made everything begin to make sense, Empress downloaded the information. She said she saw code and how she described it, it fit perfectly to what I experienced going under the maturation process (Pre-war MTO if you will) moments after getting gaining a conscience. So what she downloaded must've been too much for her processor to handle, making her reset in a primal state."
Sparkflare then lifted up his servo to reveal a shell resembling what can be described as a possible extension to the helm as Sparkflare was holding it at his helm, trying to figure out how it would fit.
"I then linked up the code with orders which got me thinking to the reason why I brought up Shadowplay eariler. Since day 1 of being on Earth, there have been two cases of reprogramming, Dark Mercy and Genorix. So Empress being the next isn't gonna surprise me. While I don't know what Empress's orders were, I can guarantee that Empress is only a puppet and someone in this base is trying to tear us apart from the inside."
Sparkflare then paused as he crossed his arms to he put the extension down.
"I have a plan to try and expose our spy, but you won't like it."

Nitrobite was about clamber up onto a computer when he heard the growl of another creature. The Canistarian's helm pivoted to see where the noise was coming from, it's optics stopping on the Pet.
"Be nice!"
He mimicked in Sky's voice. The creatures tail twitched anxiously along with his wings, indicating that he might try to take flight.

Bruiser considered what Sparkflare said. He was curious as he started going through names in his head of who he thought it could be. Bruiser began pacing back and forth a bit as he thought of who it could be. He figured what Sparkflare said did make sense, just who could have done a reprogramming right under their noses. Just as continued to think a name came up. Someone he had met before, but he wasn't sure.
"Whoever did this had to be quite smart. There really are only a few people here with that kind of scientific knowledge. The only thing is, it's probably not someone who has been here very long. Most Autobots end up in social situations very quickly."
Bruiser said glancing at the Prime, whom he saw earlier talking with a certain femme.
"Basically what I mean is if it was a regular here, someone would have probably noticed. I have a guess on who it could be."
Bruiser waited for others to respond before revealing, to see if anyone could poke a hole in his theory that could make him rethink it.

The Pet lurched forward to grab the treat, then retreated back to a corner to begin feasting on it. Like most animals, The Pet would become territorial to most people if they came too close.
((Sorry for being spotty in post reliability. Summer plans take up a lot of time.))

Sky gave Sparkflare a look that was both questioning and a bit humorous. He let Pet take her treat and stroke her back as she went away to the corner. The Prime stood up and cleaned off his servo, the energon just seemed to disappear.
What? I can't let her starve.
Sky stated as he began to listen to all Sparkflare had to say. It was really interesting, this theory. Sky couldn't relate to the maturing process as he wasn't created the same way as they were. He figured Sparkflare knew what he was talking about though. When the inside job was mentioned, Sky vented heavily. Not only did he have to wage a war on the outside but now he had to do it on the inside too. Just his luck. Bruiser got a turn in voicing his theory and thoughts, and Sky couldn't help but feel a bit targeted in the social situations part.
Why are you looking at me?
Sky said jokingly as he was quite sure what his Maximus actually meant. Now it was his turn to come with a theory.
Wait, Genorix got reprogrammed? Why didn't I get information about that? Either way... what you say makes sense. She might be a puppet but that doesn't help much. Her master must've noticed that she's in jail right now, headlines have been made across the base by now. Either, he will try to free her OR try again with someone else. If you have the means and will to use Shadowplay on someone, then you will finish what you started. Yes, the person or persons behind this are smart, very smart. He also has to have access to tools, tools which we only have in one place in the base. I want the security feeds of Empress and from the lab rooms. See if we find anything. We need proof, not guesses. If it is a reprogramming, it was made by hand, not remotely. He will be on the security feeds.
Sky stated his theory while looking at the others. The security feeds weren't so much of a question as of an order to actually do it. Seeing that Nitrobite was a bit... scared wasn't the right word but it was the best thing to describe the creature, Sky threw a tiny energon ball at it, without taking his optics away from Sparkflare and Bruiser.

A comm message emerged from the Autobot Repair Room. Directed to Skyspray (Aquahaze) , it entailed of: “: : Skyspray. I need you to give me permission to not get fragged when leaving the base. I’m finding Contrail. : :” The line was left open, awaiting a response.

Sky commed back to his friend. It was a very explosive friendship they had.

"Wrecker stuff. Besides I was handling it."
Sparkflare said to explain why Skyspray hadn't heard about Genorix. When Skyspray brought up that the mnemosurgeon would try to free Empress for his own gain and Bruiser pointing out that the security cameras would be useful. The mech still had a plan of his own. He sighed, this was going to be the hardest part to explain.
"Yeah, looking up secruity cams would take some time. But if Empress is under threat, someone will have to look over her. She said she was a medic, so someone who works in the medibay would be a good candidate. And of course, we can't just have Empress walking around without too many questions. So what I am about to say is going to be the hardest thing to explain and I might as well not bother, but anyway...
For Empress to walk around freely without anyone asking too many questions, I propose that I 'confess' for being responisble for Empress' actions and you pubicly (either infront of everyone or by comms) revoke the rite of Autobrand and cast me out. That way the culprit might fall into a comfort zone and slip up."
Sparkflare then crossed his arms and awaited for Skyspray or Bruiser's reply on the idea. Sparkflare mentally guessed that it would be simply be protests of the idea.

The pale creature chirped in excitement as something was tossed in his direction. Any bad feelings that he had had before had seemed to be forgotten as chased after the object. There was a crashing noise as Nitrobite caught the ball and skidded into a pile of junk. Once he realized the ball was made of energon, he quickly devoured it.

Bruiser continued to think listening to the others as he bounced ideas in his processor.
"If you do that, I will look into my hunch, start gathering evidence and getting proof. And while I do that..."
Bruiser brings up his holo-computer on his left arm. He begins typing, bringing up security videos.
"If I add a filter my holo-computer can start scanning the security video and narrow down some possibilities. It should at least make the job a bit easier."

The Pet looked to Nitrobite. Master threw it a treat. Did Master like it? Was the Pet getting replaced? The Pet cared less and less the more it snacked on the organ, chewing it lightly, and seeing how much it squished between her enormous jaws. The Pet missed battle, and it had an impeccable sense of smell, meaning that whenever it was taken out, it was to track down unknown traitors. It could probably help with the situation here if someone asked. After all, she could easily gather the scent from Empress, though if the culprit got around enough, it could take longer.

Wrecker stuff.. yeah you guys don't like to share your information. It hasn't changed since my days.
The tall mech grumbled, not too happy with the response he got. There was nothing he could do about it now though, as Genorix probably had been brainwashed quite groundly. After the failure with Dark Mercy, they had to be more careful, otherwise they weren't as intelligent as Sky assumed them to be. Then again, they hadn't done a lot to prove themselves intelligent either. Organized, yes. But intelligent, not so much. Skyspray kept listening to Sparkflare's plan and frowned. It could work, but to what cost? What if the culprit did not slip up? Then it would have been for nothing while the army still saw him as a threat. They had to ctch whoever was responsible though, and Sky knew that. The risk were small compared to what could happen if more bots got under this strange mind control.
Xaar, year 1056 local time.
The mining trip went great, at least according to the young mech who skipped around excitedly. They had discovered a huuuuuuge pile of crystals, more than he could count on his digits! He knew that his dad wouldn't like that he jumped around like that, he would be "endangering the mission". Whatever that meant. There was no sign of them anywhere so there was no way they could know about it. It was rather boring to just stand by and look while everyone else worked though, and Sky wanted to help. He ran over to the one who shouted at all the vehicons to work and tugged his leg.
Tripe, can I work too?
Sky watched the mech look down at him and shake his helm. Of course he wasn't allowed, nobody ever allowed him to do anything. He turned around and walked away, sitting down and beginning to dig with his servos. It took almost no time at all before he found a small metal ball. It looked weid so he threw it where everything else was. There was a scream and when Sky looked around, the crystals seemed to just rot away. That was bad. He knew that. If it couldn't be any worse, his father came. Now Sky was in so much trouble. Except he wasn't. Tripe said something and Kaon just nodded. Then Tripe had no helm. Tripe had taken the blame to protect him...
Snapping back to the present as Bruiser began working with the security cameras and just nodded. He also turned on the open comms to all autobots.
Very well then. Sparkflare, because of your highly disruptive actions and sabotage towards the entire autobot faction, I hereby exile you from the autobots. You have been found guilty of mind controlling Empress and making her attack fellow bots. Leave us, now.
The open comm was then turned off.
I really hope you know what you are doing. I'm going to speak with Empress now, tell her she can come out and remain in the medbay, with someone who can guard her. And Bruiser, there's a meeting later, I want you to attend. Pet, come with me, come on, good girl.
He shook his helm before bending down and stroking Pet from her head to her tail, motioning and urging for her to follow. If Nitrobite also followed, he'd not stop it. Then he exited the room, hopefully with Pet after him.

And it was just like that, he was (technically) no longer an Autobot. In all honesty, Sparkflare thought he would've had to convince Skyspray a lot more than that. Sparkflare ex-ventilated. Was he really that disruptive? Did it matter though? No, no it didn't. Not anymore.
Sparkflare looked down to his own chest and removed the Autobot insignia from it. He was exiled now, there was no longer a need to have it on him anymore longer. Sparkflare then placed the insignia down on the nearest table and left it there. He looked at Bruiser, nodded farewell and left the room and into the hallways, heading towards the decks.

Nitro watched as the lab was clearing out. He looked around before scaling a nearby wall to get in the the rafters. While an adventure to elsewhere in the ship seemed fun, he still wanted to explore this room and maybe find a souvenir.

The Pet scampered off towards her master, yet suddenly stopped at the door. It turned, eerily looking directly at Nitrobite. It's lifeless eyes held no emotion, they just unsettlingly stared the creature down. With a slight grunt, the beast took off.

Nitrobite paused as he felt the gaze of another baring down on him. He stayed still for a majority of the encounter, aside from his tail that seemed to have a mind of its own. The Canistarian imitated the grunt in a more whinny way once the Pet left the lab.
His optics examined the ceiling and stopped at a light source. With an excited chirp, Nitro took hold of the bulb and tore it from its socket. The creature then dropped from the rafters and scampered out of the lab.
