You pompous aft.
Short made to grab at the opponent's leg when it came at him, and attempted to use his momentum and Short's own skill to fling the larger mech to the ground, which would undoubtedly knock the wind out of him should it succeed. Short made to lead up should he succed, and bring his servos down on Sy's helm, but faked out at the last second and brought his pede to swing at Sy's helm instead.
((Seems like we got ourselves a stalemate here.))

((No worries Ulti. I do that all the time.))
Just gave a slight shake of the head at the fight that was occurring with Sydrone and Short Stock. Complications. Both were using abilities, regardless of the angles he looked at it. Both were breaking the rule he had mentioned earlier. He had not explained any exceptions to the students, so it was only fair that he did not introduce any exceptions now. It would be unjust.
"It matters little how this combat ends. Both of you have violated the rule I stated. Hence, you both are going to stop." Taggon told both of the remaining combatants. "So halt, both of you." Taggon said. If he didn't give them a consequence, then it would show the other students that there was no real punishment for violating rules. It was military etiquette. Whether they liked it or not. Taggon would turn to Afterburner and Vampyricon. He had been hearing their little bickers.
"Afterburner, as much as you do not like it, if Vampyricon hit you in the helm, then you are counted as dead. The first rule of combat is never underestimate your enemy. Rule two is do not be too eager to engage your opponent in a fight in the first place. Whether you are ordered to or not." Taggon spoke to the young predicon. Though it was evident that he was also speaking these words of advice to Vampyricon to hear clearly as well--Taggon was not blind to the mech's smugness. He would glance at Dashside. She was evidently not pleased with who things were being run, he smirk replaced with a step up from a grimace.
"The lesson, as you may have deducted, is on servo to servo combat. No abilities are involved this session, rather, the goal of this is to prepare students for when they are stripped of their equipment. In my experience, days like that are rare, yet inevitable." Taggon told Dashside. Many Autobots now-a-days simply hated Taggon for what he was, or what he did. Taggon had learned to accept that, over his years as a mere foot soldier. "You have arrived a little late in this teaching...however, due to recent actions, I believe that my students could use a little loosening up regardless of their last activity." Taggon stated. Before he continued, he would return his stare to Sydrone, Short, and Stock, seeing if they had stopped as ordered.

Sydrone picks himself up after being flung to the ground and bows Apologies, boss. Got a little carried away, that's all. Punish me if you will. Sydrone says, looking resolute. He did have a creed, after all.

Short indeed stopped and waved at Dashside. Had been a while since he last saw her. He helped his brother up and merged again, and Shortstock walked to stand near Sydrone, and mimicked his bow, not in a mocking way, he too was paying respect.

[Trying to be in character, so no offence, Nova]
"Doesn't actually matter to me, Nova," Vampyricon said. "You'll be fighting them IRL anyway."
Vamp cleaned the energon off his palm with his intake and stood up. "At least Taggsy knows that it was a hit. Even if I didn't move," he thought. He was not used to teachers this strict, which he supposed might've led to his inability to fight someone who didn't do anything stupid, like charging at a blade pointed at them.
He moved closer to Taggon and said softly, "Taggon? I, uh, apologize for the snarkiness earlier. I hadn't been entirely ready for the lesson." He unconsciously rubbed the black collar around his neck. "So what's next?"

Whenever Taggon spoke, it was a controversy; his voice held a calm aspect, as if it was almost entirely monotonous, but there were traces of understanding in it; paired with the seasons Taggon had seen over his years. He spoke like he was of an ancient age, when truly, there was a part in his voice that indicated he was rather younger than one might surmise. Then there was the synthesized attribute to his voice, since his vocoder always echoed through a war-mask. Each and every beings voice was something exclusive to that being, but with Taggon--it was as if his voice held an unseen mixture, yet it was coded in such a way that it was all too easy to over look these things. If one listened, to how Taggon simply spoke, it would tell anyone a portion of his story. There was never a way of truly telling if Taggon's brows were furrowed or not, since his voice was guised in such a way, yet---one could learn a thing or two about the mech just by hearing him.
Taggon received the bows from Sydrone and Shortstock with a solemn nod, "You three." Taggon answered them, "Commence doing trans-ups. I will tell you when you are done. That includes you two." Taggon said switching his glance to Shortstock. It was evident the vehicon expected the exercise out of both dwarfs, not just the one that stood fully combined before him. "I want your faceplates to just graze the floor as you do them." Taggon told them. This was not his original consequence, but, these two hadn't been as bad as others. Nonetheless, when Taggon was through with his students in all sessions he had planned, one way or another, he suspected all of them would be finishing their training in general with very well used pectorals and arms. Meanwhile-
'Taggon? I, uh, apologize for the snarkiness earlier. I hadn't been entirely ready for the lesson.'
The vehicon's visor was already turning around to face the other students. "Apology accepted Vampyricon." Taggon clasped his servos behind his back. "What is next in store for all of you, as the final exercise, is simple. I will begin numbering you all off--there will be two teams." Taggon said, "Each team will start at opposite ends of the room. The rules are easy; your team has to make it to the other side of the wall before the other team. That is not all--the enemy team has to reach their side of the wall with as few members 'functional' as possible." Taggon continued. "Once more, a blow to the helm or the center of the chest counts you as 'dead'. No wings, and no alternate modes are to be applied..and once more." Taggon surveyed each student carefully. "You are only allowed anything but abilities and actual weapons. Any questions?"

Sydrone drops and starts doing what he'd been told, going up and down, up and down, up and down... "Any questions?" Sydrone stops doing trans-ups and leans on one of his knees So, what happens if you get hit in those zones? Are we "out" for the rest of the round? he asks, bowing his head to show respect in the questions.
((I've realised just how Samurai-mode Sy's gotten over the years...))

Shortstock split, and the newly merged Short opened his mouth, his furrowed brow conveying that he was about to say something to Taggon. Stock's servos on his half's shoulder stopped him. Stock began his trans-ups, making sure to lightly touch his forehelm to touch the ground each time. Short begrudgingly joined him, though he didn't like training separately. The muscle gained in Shortstock was distributed to the halves, and vice versa. They didn't know which was more effective, however.
I have one. Do we stay split, or do we merge?

Taggon could be a sergeant, and was being one with these students. He glanced in Sydrone's direction, noticing the trans-upping mech was pausing to talk.
"Once you are given a blow to the helm or chest, you are considered 'dead', and cannot do much for your allies for the rest of the game. Now." Taggon tilted his helm slightly to the left, "I did not tell you to halt. Even if you are speaking, you are still expected to continue in your exercise." Taggon told Sydrone. It was not harsh, and the way he moved his helm was not out of dissatisfaction, but, his voice still had the authority of teacher despite this. Taggon went on to face Short and Stock to answer their question.
"You both shall remain split." Taggon answered briskly, never breaking a stride as he turned around.
Taggon would proceed to numbering the students off, passing each, repeating 'one,' and 'two.' Until each student had evidently been given one of those numbers. There were two teams; Dashside, Vampyricon, and Short were 'one', Sydrone, Stalk, and Afterburner were 'two'. Taggon would not give Short, Stalk, or Sydrone the all-clear to stop their trans-ups, but he would signal the 'two's to go to the south side of the room, and the opposing side the North.
"Do not wait for your comrades who are still doing their trans-ups. They will be the reinforcements your team will receive soon enough. Now, get into your positions, and await my signal to engage." Taggon spoke. He knew some students would think these odds unfair, but, he was preparing them for the battles ahead. Some warriors would always face terrible odds--and though this was the near beginning of their training careers, they needed to understand this. So Any who rolled their eyes or moaned would receive back form Taggon a patient, and quiet visor glow, which seemed to reinforce the orders he had just given.

Sydrone nods, walks over to the side he had been assigned and gets back down and starts doing trans-ups. He didn't complain. He was an Assassin, he had learned not to waste time or energy on trifling matters, especially when hunting a mark. He was fine doing what he was, he was a fit young mech, but it was just so incredibly... boring. He was also a bit miffed about how he appeared to be sidelined until halfway through round 1, when he could be getting out there and punching Vamp in his smug little...... When he could be out there trying to win the exercise for his team. Even through Sy was now accustomed to being a commander, he could still follow orders. After all, he did still answer to the Prime, and his post held no sway when it came to chain of command. He decided to start analysing his opponents.
Vampyricon: Absolutely scrap at hand to hand. Get up close and you've won with him, but be careful of his tentacles. Biggest weakness is hubris. Dashside: Biggest threat to the team. Skilled martial artist. Using a couple of decoy tactics might help. Short: Dark horse. I didn't know about Shortstock's unique ability, but he's small, but hyper offensive. More confident than that of his twin brother.
This whole thought proces occupied less than 5 seconds.

Dashside cracked her knuckles again as she continued to listen to what Taggon had to say, specifically the no guns rule and the objectives of the mission. Already she had identified Short, who looked different, but in a way, similar to herself. The femme found comfort in the fact she had been teamed up with him and some other bot she didn't know, but also comfort in the fact that Sydrone was member of the opposition, she would certainly enjoy this.
Walking to her side of the hall, she pressed up against the wall, nodding to Short as she moved to her location, moving down into a good position to push off of intro a sprint. To help with the run she was preparing to make, the various booster jets dotted along her body began to warm up, ready to burst at full throttle.

No wings, no alt-modes. That means no flight, no alt-modes.
"But he didn't explicitly say no flight," Vampyricon thought to himself, walking towards his wall.
"Trans-ups. You hate them with a passion," he replied mentally.
It was at this moment that Dashside warmed her jets.
"If Railgun could use her jets then we could too."
A mental nod indicated his components' agreement.
The barely visible seams in Vamp's armour flared with light, giving off a fluorescent green that hid the many small jets. Sydrone was in for a surprise.
Or should be, at least. Sydrone seemed to have the uncanny ability to materialize whatever was needed to detect stuff, whether or not he could possibly have it. However, it would be inconceivable that the jets would be used for anything other than speeding up the bot.

Sydrone hears jets warming up and looks up to see Dashside strolling to her side of the court.
Update: Dashside appears to be using jets to augment her fighting style. Expect arial attacks. Sydrone thinks to himself, before noticing Vamp appeared to be... glowing? Green? Sydrone thought he heard a different tone in the sound of Dashside's jets... like a different sound altogether Vampyricon may be using some kind of augmentation as well. Do not underestimate. If anything, overestimate the dunce. Sydrone adds to himself, before putting his head back down and focusing on his trans-ups. Not tired, just incredibly bored.

Stock and Short both kept with their trans-ups, moving at a remarkable pace given their size and age. Stock wondered why they were ganging up on Sydrone, and not him. A sparkling was an easier target. Perhaps he had just ticked them both off. Yeah. Probably that. Short grinned while performing his trans-ups, glad Dashside noticed his new form. Short and Stock looked more different than ever, having taken alt forms of different vehicular types. He felt sorry for his other half, as he looked to be outmatched. Two against one, and the one was a predacon: ferocious yet easily countered. Short just waited patiently.

Vampyricon didn't like waiting, so once Taggon gave the signal, he charged at Afterburner, expecting Dashside to follow up.
Upon reaching Afterburner, he stabbed the claws on his right hand towards her chest. Without waiting for them to land, his left arm stabbed towards her abdomen, while firing his jets to spin clockwise. His wings rotated upwards to block the back of his head, and as his back faced Afterburner, his tentacles launched out towards her. If any one of them grabbed her, or were grabbed onto, he would immediately fire his backwards-facing jets, launching Afterburner forwards towards Dashside.
