Whirl entered the firing range and picked up a gun - not the Shoomer. But he didn't move on to firing just yet. He looked over at Sparkflare, who was buffing up his weapon. There was no expression, but the idea that the best you could do with your weapon was keep it nice and shiny made him want to mock the mech.
"Nice bang-bang stick. You think you can get it shiny enough to blind your enemies?!" he asked.
First he dissassembled the rifle he'd picked out in less than a minute, laying the parts out neatly in front of him. He tilted his head at Sparkflare, almost like he was making a casual challenge.
Then he put the gun back together again, with equal speed.

"That's the idea for its secondary function, yeah."
Sparkflare said without hesitation as he looked up at Whirl with a deadpan tone of voice. As Whirl then started to disassemble his weapon and lay the parts onto the desk, Sparkflare moved his sniper rifle away from the table to behind the chair he was sitting on as he watched Whirl continue disassembling the weapon and then reassembling it at an equal speed.
Once Whirl was done, Sparkflare frowned as he stared at the weapon and then to Whirl and raised an optic ridge. Then with a quick motion, Sparkflare reached behind him brought out the rifle and slammed it onto the table. Sparkflare couldn't just simply forfeit from a challenge The mech quickly began disassemble the weapon at a constant pace. Of course it was not as fast as Whirl had done it. That was a whole other level.
Once all the parts of the rifle were detached from each other, it now came to reassembling them. Quickly the mech began to attach each piece back together at a faster pace than he did disassembling it. Still, it was not as fast as Whirl did. Once the rifle was reassembled, Sparkflare pushed a clip of ammunition into the rifle, loaded a bullet into the chamber, slung the weapon over his shoulder and pulled the trigger, firing a round into the shooting range behind him. Whether the shot hit a target or not was unknown to him.
Sparkflare smirked as he lowered the rifle behind him with a smirk on his face plate.
"Now does your weapon still fire?"

"Shall we find out?" Whirl pointed the rifle directly at Sparkflare's head for a moment.
Then he spun around and fired three shots rapidly into the shooting range. Two of them hit the target.
Once upon a time, a sour little voice reminded him, You could do that with clocks too. He tried to ignore it.
"The important part is that you can do it before some 'con shoots you in the neck on account of bein' unarmed!" he told Sparkflare, "You think it's good enough? It's never gonna be good enough!"
This statement might have been very philosophical and serious, had it not been directly followed by one of Whirl's mad, cackling laughs.

Sparkflare was a little intimidated when Whirl aimed at his helm. He was about to put his gauntlet blasters out of safety lock. If he needed to defend himself then so be it. But as soon as Whirl spun around to fire his weapon into the firing range, Sparkflare abandoned the thought of deactivating his safety lock.
"Not bad."
Then Whirl starting to talk about Sparkflare having to be faster when reconstructing a weapon, the younger mech simply took in the information and rejected it. As far as Sparkflare was concerned, Whirl was just criticising him. Then Whirl just burst into laughter. Sparkflare laughed as well. Not a maniacal laugh, but a nervous awkward laugh. Then as Sparkflare's laughter died, the mech let his rifle rest on his lap and looked up at Whirl.
"So I take it that there are currently no 'cons attacking at the moment?"

Whirl shook his head, "Nah, they ain't got the gumptions to attack when ol' Whirly-bird's in the house. O'course, the Magnus goes around lettin' people in like they're not mass-murderers or somethin' so I guees they don't have to."
He sighted along the rifle, tilting his head one way and then the other, trying to deduce the best way to use the scope.
"Personally I think the base is just frikkin' crawlin' with wannabe traitors right now. Mercs, and Neutrals..." his antennae lay back flat and he spat on the floor mockingly, "And people what are just flat out in denial about who they are and what they've done."

"Don't remind me."
Sparkflare said as he put his servo onto his face plate and vented out. He was never keen on the fact that a former Decepticon just defected to the Autobots should be allowed to run around freely without being surveyed. What also annoyed him more was the bots (former 'con or not) that outright denied what crimes they done in their past, pretending it never happened.
But judging by what what Whirl said about the current Magnus, he lost track by now, letting in mass murderers into the base freely, Sparkflare couldn't help but question the current chain of command.
"So who is this mass murderer that the Magnus opened our doors to with loving arms?"

"The Pet," Whirl opened up his weapon again and started cleaning each part with loving care rarely seen outside of a mother and her newborn, "Seems that just 'cause our ex-Deej (DJD) is a Magnus now, he can let in his pets even if they have spent all their time chewin' on the sparks 'a their own and ours, murderin' and torturin' left an' right an' we're just supposed to forget about it."
He twisted something on the gun into place.
"An' now it's just... sittin' pretty in the med-bay an' soon it's gonna be wanderin' around the base like a bad smell. An' ya know what's worse? If it's not a stinkin' spy, then the rest 'a the Deej are gonna come track it down an' kill everybody to death until they catch it."

"Even if the DJD come along, they wouldn't stop there. We are probably holding more ex-'cons down here than their list has names on it."
Sparkflare looked down at his rifle. He didn't even have to change anything to the sniper rifle. Of course he could get up and leave, but that would be rude, seeing as he was locked in a conversation with Whirl. Sparkflare sighed as he shrugged.
"If there is another "ex" DJD member lurking around the base I swear to Primus I hope Feenix is aware of how many murderers her second in command is smuggling in. I take it that you attempted to put down that fragged up turbofox?"

"O' course I would'a! But then 'Spray gets up and says all that crap about 'If you hurt her'," Whirl said sourly, "So help me I bet he wouldn't let me smuggle my murderous, treacherous friends into the base..."
He gave this a moment of thought as he sighted along the rifle, "Y'know, if I had any friends."
He continued, "I don't trust it. Spray goes around saying it's loyal to him. We don't need a Turbo-fox what is loyal to Spray! We need a Turbo-fox what is loyal to Autobots! It's totally gonna screw us all over and he can't even see it! Somebody's gotta do somethin'!"
He chuckled briefly at a private thought. The gun was set up perfectly, just as he liked it.
"That somebody may have to be me. I do all the dirty work around here, anyway..."
He stood up, ready to head out of the firing range again.

"So what are you planning to do then?"
Sparkflare shrugged as he got up off his seat and held his rifle by his side. Seeing that Whirl was going to leave the room, it would be a good place to start packing up. Sparkflare mentally sighed as his mind kept running the same question over and over again of the possibility of Skyspray turning. There was also a slight hope in Sparkflare that Whirl was going to wait for the pet to slip up in the near future so he could justify his actions opposed to just going to flat out kill the beast. Then again a dead DJD member is a good DJD member.
"Where are you heading' too now?"
Sparkflare asked Whirl just before he left to his quarters to find something for his rifle so he didn't have to carry it with his servos.

"Plan? Oh yeah, a plan. One of those things..." Whirl scratched his helm with a claw, "Can't just sit around waiting for the little mongrel to mess up..."
He scratched at his helm again.
"A plan... never thought about havin' one of those. I was just gonaa go kill it and then let everybody think I'm crazy like always... This bears thinkin' about. Drinkin' about. Both are good. To the Energon-mo-room!"
Still holding his rifle, he walked out of the firing range and headed for the bar.

Starscribe weighed the throwing knife in her hand as she entered the armoury. She'd been advised to check out the holo simulators to find herself an "alternate form", something she'd never really thought about back on Cybertron. But she wasn't on Cybertron any more, and obtaining a vehicle mode was much less just about convenience of travel and more about survival. Finding to her relief that one of the holo simulators were empty, she entered. She took out her datapad, finding it simpler to use a familiar interface than the newfangled interfaces of the base, and connected it with the holo simulator's computer.
To her relief, finding the vehicle library wasn't too hard. She scrolled through rows upon rows of cars and trucks, somewhat disinterested in obtaining an alternate means of travelling over terrain. What she wanted was something a bit less... grounded. Finally, she came across aerial vehicles, which included planes and helicopters. Finding the helicopters to be a bit... unflattering, she decided to check out the planes instead. And after a short search, she found it. The dimensions fit, and its form was quite elegant. This would do, she thought.
With a flick of a few digital buttons, the small private jet materialised in the holo simulator, ready for Starscribe to scan and obtain as her alternate form. She smiled, and put her datapad aside. She'd never done this before, but to her surprise, she quickly figured out how to do it, green beams shooting out of her eyes and enveloping the holographic form, taking in its specs and structural consistencies. She could feel her body changing to accommodate for her alternate form, wing segments forming on er arms and window panes taking shape on her chest. Then, only a short moment after they had appeared, the green rays dissipated, leaving Starscribe with her new alternate mode.

After a while of wandering the base, Empress had found herself at the firing range. Her expression was flat as it usually was, but her optics showed a sort of busyness. The femme took in her surroundings while quickly figuring out what it was that each piece of equipment was for. She approached one of the holo simulators and examined the controls. It took a few minutes for a scowl to form upon her faceplate. Knowing of something was quite different than knowing how something worked.
With a disgruntled huff, the pred-medic strolled over to the firing range. Now this was something straightforward and free of complicated controls. Empress converted one of her servos into its ranged mode and began firing at a nearby targets. While not as precise as most weapons, it could still do damage due to its splatter capabilities.
Halogen paced the room, seemingly trying to decipher all the days events. Eventually this grew tiresome and he settled for gnawing on a discarded blade.

The doors opened up to the firing range and Ratchet entered. He was looking for Empress. The old medic had reviewed her work amd he wasn't getting any younger these days. Sooner or later his old age would come to catch up with him completely. Ratchet walked up behind Empress with his hands behind his back. The medic raised a fist to his mouth and coughed to gain Empress' attention. Once Empress would notice Ratchet was here, the old medic would begin to speak.
"Hello Empress. Mind if we have a talk? It's related to your standing as a medic within the Autobot faction."

The femme had been so absorbed in her fire practice that she hadn't heard Ratchet when he first entered. Empress flinched once the older mech coughed, then turned to face him. While doing this, her hand switched back into its original state.
"A talk?" Her helm tilted. Was she being demoted because of her previous interaction with the Prime? To her it seemed to be the most likely outcome. "D-did I do something wrong?" She tugged at her hood.

When Empress asked if she did something wrong. The medic shook his head as grabbed a seat to sit on.
"No. It's quite the opposite for today."
Ratchet explained as he brought out his data pad, switched it on and started to read through the files on Empress' work over her career.
"I've reviewed yours and every other medic's work over the duration of your Autobot career. Now, these days I'm not getting any younger. Which means at somepoint in the future I will be of no use to anyone. Which is why I am looking for a successor for Cheif Medical Officer. Your files stood out the most."
Ratchet said as he looked at Empress to see her reaction. Or if she knew what Ratchet was going on about.

Empress began to relax once she realized that this visit was not of the negative sort. She shifted awkwardly on her feet and attempted to see what was on Ratchet's data pad. It took her a few moments to understand what it was that the older medic was implying.
"A successor?" She reiterated, whilst glancing at Ratchet. What was uncertainty at first quickly became that of excitement. "You want me to be the next Chief Medical Officer? I-I don't know what I should say." This moment was most likely the happiest one of her life to date. Her upbeat response suddenly stopped. "Why me? I have no formal medical training."
The femme was certainly ecstatic about the promotion, but was unsure as to why she was getting it.

"Which why exactly why I chose you."
Ratchet said as Empress mentioned that she did not possess any formal medical training. But her report would suggest otherwise. Ratchet would've been more than happy to go into a large amount of detail, but he was pressed for time. After Empress, he'd have to go find someone else to discuss top secrets with.
"You've repaired a few people, that's pretty much a standard thing to do. But you've been able to transfer someone into another body. Combine that with your "no formal medical training", it would seem that you are a professional medic in disguise or gifted. I'll let you decide which one. But anyway, the entire medical facility. It's yours. If anyone is in it you can boss them around. Unless it is someone in the "top 3''. Otherwise it is your place, your rules."

The response seemed to reassure the femme. She clasped her hands in front of herself and smiled, not one as big as before, but still a smile. There was a brief awkward silence before she realized that she should probably respond.
"Thank you, Ratchet. This really does mean a lot. I promise I will do my best to not let you or the rest of the autobots down."
Empress bowed her helm respectively after her statement. With her new promotion it would probably be best that she head back to the medical bay, even if the Prime suggested she spend a little time to rest.

Zenith walked into the room, and decided to do some target practice, his servos retracted and his wrists became the nozzle of his nullrays, he began firing them at the targets at the firing range, he had some unwanted anger still in his system, he had been hiding that, but he realized that right now, he needed to vent it, but once it was time for him to endulge his secret for the act of disclosure, he would tell him that he is angry, not at Nova, but at the ones who hurt him, and that he would do anything to ensure he was safe. Zenith was firing the scrap out of the target, he just needed to get it out of his system, to make the anger more manageable, so he can keep a level helm on the matter.
